Introducing Positive Peers! This is a really unique group for kids ages 10-13 years old. The transition from kid to tween to teenager can be so difficult! Changes, both personally and socially, can feel extremely overwhelming! This group seeks to create a safe group for tweens to learn how to understand and participate in the social dynamic and nuances of tween life! As an added feature, parents are invited to stay while their child is in group and participate in a parent group session! These parent sessions will directly relate to the topics covered in session with the children and will allow parents and their tweens to both feel supported and united as they enter teenagehood!

If you have an insurance program that covers Occupational Therapy, these sessions should be covered!

Happy September everyone! We are very excited to be releasing our 2024/2025 Group Therapy schedule. Our fantastic OT, Brynne, has put a lot of thought and care into creating some really helpful and engaging programming for the kiddos we work with. This fall, we are focused on social thinking and social skills so we will be running three different social skills groups for different ages and stages.

In the Winter and Spring of 2025, we will be offering a Peaceful Meal Time group and two groups for our picky eating friends!

To register, please use the links at our website or scan the QR codes on the flyers!

Hi Everyone! After hearing the demand from some of our clients, our incredible Occupational Therapist (OT) is running a School Readiness day camp for kiddos entering JK, SK, and Grade 1 at the end of August! We have a few spots left so I wanted to share here in case anyone is interested!

The registration link is: https://form.jotform.com/Swigger_heddy/school-readiness-camp

Additionally, we are planning to run OT groups in the fall, specifically on the following topics: picky eaters, peaceful family meal times, handwriting, and social thinking. We would love to meet the specific needs parents are facing so please let us know what would be of interest!

Happy Friday Everyone! It is hard to believe that October is already here!

Our book of the week is The Good Egg by Jory John and Pete Oswald. This story is fantastic for kids who feel the need to be perfect and hold themselves accountable for making sure everyone else makes "good choices" too. The Good Egg reminds kids that they are loved for all their imperfections!

Every child matters. As a social worker, I can’t ignore the role my profession played (and still plays) in the harms perpetrated against Indigenous peoples. I’m so sorry that your precious children were stolen from you. I’m sorry that the word school, which should mean a safe place, was weaponized against you. I promise to continue to listen and learn, acknowledge my lack of knowledge, and do the best I can to advocate and walk with you.

After a big break, Book of the Week is back and we are starting off with this awesome story by Anna Llenas! This pop-up book is a favourite among our younger clients! This story is about a little monster whose feelings get all jumbled up. This mixed up monster gets some help from a friend to sort out all the emotions they are experiencing! This book helps normalize for kids that we can experience a number of feelings at the same time and that being able to sort through and name our emotions often helps us feel better!

Happy Sunday! This September transition was a big one (as I'm sure you can all attest to) so we have been pretty quiet on here as we support families in navigating this back-to-school season. Being a parent right now can feel endlessly exhausting, especially if your kiddos are having a hard time adjusting to this new school routine. While parents are quick to provide support to their children, it is also important that you feel supported in your role as a parent! We are here to play that role for you! Give us a call today for a complimentary consultation call!
