👇🏻 Get started with a 21 day program to kickstart your health called “Stress Less for a Healthier You”. For years, I prioritized my mental performance over taking care of my physical health until the two collided. Why didn’t I learn about how to take care of myself holistically

earlier in my career? Here’s what I now know - as health improves, so does performance and life. You could continue maximizing your performance by pushing yourself to your limit until one day it stops working for you. You may be noticing symptoms like low energy, inability to manage stress, and signs of inflammation like fat gain. I love to coach people who are ready to feel better naturally using a bio-individual approach that looks at the whole person addressing foundational factors including:
- Physical - to give your body what it needs to build and repair itself, and feel energized
- Emotional - to have the resiliency to handle day-to-day stress with ease and grace
- Mind-Body Connection - to become more in-tune with your unique needs to nourish your whole self. My mission is to inspire, educate and mentor people to transform inside and out naturally to feel their best so they can be their best. Stress comes in many forms. One form of PHYSICAL STRESS on the body can come from the FOOD you eat. You may or may not feel symptoms right away.

Food stress can show up as inflammation, pain, discomfort (e.g. from bloating), allergic reactions, weight gain (or loss), feelings of brain fogginess, and more.

💡Ready to feel lighter, energized, and banish the brain fog?

Through my personal journey, I have learned the hard way how to nourish myself without feeling deprived. It didn’t need to take as long as it did.

🌷 Spring has sprung but so have your allergy symptoms! 🤧 Could your allergic reactions be related to imbalances in your gut microbiome? 🦠

If your gastrointestinal (GI) tract is irritated or inflamed 🔥, this can impact the health of the mucosa and immune system. Did you know that about 70% of your immune system cells exist in your gastrointestinal tract? An overactive immune system can WORSEN allergy symptoms.

A key STRESS on the GI system is a bacteria IMBALANCE. 😡

Just like a garden, what you feed grows. You need a mix of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, yeast) in an appropriate balance ⚖️ to thrive but opportunistic organisms can overgrow if they get fed preferentially.

This can lead to imbalances and symptoms. 🤕 For me, this looked like excess mucous, sinus congestion, headaches, post nasal drip, …

For years, I used to survive on prescription nasal spray (which gave me nose bleeds) and over the counter decongestants to help me breathe and sleep. Now I’m medication free and look forward to the changing seasons!

💡 WHAT CAN YOU DO? 🌱 Start by choosing MORE whole, nutrient dense foods with lots of fibre. Choose LESS processed foods that are higher in sugar and unhealthy fats. Curious what this looks like in practice? 🧐

👉🏻 I like to refer to these spectrums of foods (carbohydrates, fats, and protein) from Precision Nutrition when I’m looking to shift to a little better choice than where I’m currently at. 🙂

💌 Message me if you would like a more comprehensive list, or if you have questions on how to apply this for you.

Are you more of a “BE-er” or a “DO-er”?

As someone with a strong work ethic who sometimes pushes yourself beyond your limits, you probably feel a sense of accomplishment crossing things off your to-do list. 🙋🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️I know I do.

But do you also value just “BE-ing” without feeling the pressure to constantly perform?

Picture this. You wake up refreshed and eager to start your day. You first take a moment to pause and really savour your morning routine.

When you get to work, you’re energized, focused, and productive. Obstacles come up but you know you can handle them. You don’t feel guilty when break time comes and you pause to relax and replenish.

How far from reality is this vision for yourself?

It may sound counterintuitive but giving yourself permission to just “BE” has positive effects for health and performance.

I challenge you to pause and imagine what your day looks like when you are in equilibrium with “BE-ing” and “DO-ing”.

What do you need to change to get one step closer to your vision?

It’s your time to grow! 🌼🌻🌷

3 Things you Need to Stress Less and Feel Healthier

1) Nutrients
Did you know that when you are stressed that your body uses up nutrients more quickly? B vitamins (e.g. B12 and B9) especially are needed to protect and maintain the health of your nervous system to support both physical and mental health. And B6 can help with stress and anxiety, and even panic attacks.

2) Mindfulness Practice
Did you know that bringing awareness to the present moment without thinking of the past or the future is a powerful tool to reduce stress? The positive benefits support both the body and the mind.

3) Movement
Did you know that movement serves a different purpose over exercise? Movement is about staying active and engaged in activities that nourish both the body and the mind.

Are you ready to feel better? My 21 day program to Stress Less for a Healthier You covers all of the above and more to help you kickstart your health.

My health is a work in progress.

I am grateful that I was feeling energetic and pain free for my ski trip this past Friday.

However, over the past couple of days I have been experiencing what I describe as arthritic pain in my hands along with the associated swelling and stiffness that goes along with it. My shoulders and left arm feel tight and constricted with limited mobility. This happens intermittently and I have faith that it’s only temporary but it limits my actions for awhile.

I believe that it’s my body’s way of communicating with me to tell me to slow down and pause.

My personal strategy to feel better is to go back to BASELINE.

Although I am in denial sometimes, I discovered that when I eat too many nightshade vegetables that I tend to experience joint pain. Well, this past week, I made a main dish with tomatoes 🍅 that I enjoyed eating throughout the week. Once again, the joint pain flared up. 😔 Sometimes it occurs in my knees or hands, other times in my jaw.

Although not in the majority, intolerance to nightshades is not uncommon. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321745

My body’s own detoxification capacity gets overwhelmed sometimes so I need to remind myself to listen and pay attention.

So for starters:
1. I’m am preparing simple, anti-inflammatory meals for myself this week that are nutrient dense and free from my personal suspect allergens and intolerances.

2. I am also focusing on gentle movement and lymphatic support.

3. I will continue to follow my nighttime routine for sufficient and restful sleep.

4. I am taking the time to pause and be still more often.

Once I’m feeling myself again (usually in a day or two), I will get back to maintenance mode.

I hope you find this reassuring, and if you’d like support to discover and implement your personal self-care plan, please reach out.

Stress can be physical, mental, and emotional. I invite you to kickstart your health by joining me in my Stress Less for a Healthier You program, a 21 day journey towards calm, resilience, and well-being.
