This past weekend, Dr. Marcovitch, Dr. Moiseiykina, Dr. Hatch, and Dr. Yu attended the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) Symposium & InfoMart. As proud OAO members, they spent the weekend learning from top speakers across North America, gaining valuable insights to enhance patient care.

Beyond continuing education, they also had the chance to connect with colleagues and industry partners, exchanging ideas and strengthening relationships within the profession. Midtown Eye Care remains committed to lifelong learning and advancing optometry in Ontario and Canada.

Midtown Eye Care is proud to have sponsored the Toronto Leaside Wildcats Intro to Hockey Program this season! From September 2024 to March 2025, we had the privilege of supporting an amazing group of girls (ages 7-14) who took on the challenge of learning hockey a little later than most—but with just as much passion and determination.

This program gave these young athletes the skills and confidence to hit the ice, mastering skating, puck-handling, passing, and shooting. Watching their progress over the season has been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see them continue in the House League next year!

Congratulations to all the players on an incredible season! 👏🎉

Our patient, Kian, lead guitarist of , was instantly drawn to this 70s-inspired aviator because of its bold, rockstar vibes. He further customized the look by adding a blue gradient tint to reduce glare during performances 🤘.

PVD occurs when the gel-like substance (vitreous) in your eye separates from the retina, usually as a natural part of aging. It’s common after age 50 and can cause floaters, flashes of light, or a sensation of “cobwebs” in your vision.

A common type of floater is a Weiss ring, which looks like a ring or doughnut shape in your vision. This occurs when the vitreous detaches from the optic nerve head.

While a PVD itself is usually harmless, it’s important to see an eye doctor if you notice sudden onset of floaters, flashes or changes in your peripheral vision. In rare cases, a PVD can lead to retinal tears or detachment, which requires urgent treatment.
