Dr. Karina Marcovitch recently traveled to Costa Rica for an exclusive visit to CooperVision’s state of the art manufacturing facility, an experience that highlighted how innovation and sustainability are actively shaping the future of vision care.
A major focus throughout the visit was CooperVision’s deep commitment to sustainability, integrated directly into how their products are designed and manufactured. From conserving water and increasing energy efficiency to recycling over 95% of production materials (including nearly 100% of plastics), it was impressive to see how environmental responsibility is embedded at every level of their operations.
One of the most impactful initiatives discussed was their global plastic neutrality efforts. Coopervision partners to collect and recycle ocean-bound plastic equivalent to the amount used in their contact lens products, helping prevent hundreds of millions of plastic bottles from entering our oceans.
Alongside these sustainability efforts, the trip included a behind the scenes plant tour showcasing advanced manufacturing processes, as well as strategic sessions exploring the latest innovations and trends shaping the Canadian vision care landscape.
Experiences like this reinforce our commitment to bringing not only the most advanced vision care solutions to our patients, but doing so in a way that supports a more sustainable future.
