Our Director of Neurological Physiotherapy, Darryl Tracy, is pleased to host our upcoming Alpha Education In-Service at Alpha Bridgepoint on Tuesday March 25th at 3:00pm!
How do we make sense of the senses? All human movement requires sensory input to galvanize a motor response. Therapists and movement practitioners need a sophisticated and efficient appreciation of this sensorimotor system. Current trends in therapy look at various physical practices that are driven predominantly through cortical control. Most of the senses work automatically. Movement and postural control are complex motor skills derived by many sensory systems. The hand is highly dexterous, prehensile, articulate and dominant. Whether we are working on hand function, balance, gait or wheelchair propulsion, we need to fully capture the complexities of the human hand.
Participants will experience an introductory review of the neurophysiology and anatomy of the hand. The in-service will have a practical session to look at how the hand and upper limb can support or limit your therapy goals in balance, gait, upper limb function and expression. This in-service is designed for practitioners working in all fields of therapy-neuro rehab, musculoskeletal care, complex continuing care and also for PT’s. OT’s, PTA’s/OTA’s, Kinesiologists, and anyone interested in the human hand.
