Did you know that food insecurity affects 1 in 4 households in Toronto? The impact is even greater among individuals with disabilities, low-income earners, ODSP recipients and racialized communities.

That’s why we opened the Surrey Place Community Pantry at our downtown location in November 2024. And it’s been an incredible journey so far!

🍏 Since its launch, the Community Pantry has provided essential support to over 700 visitors.

🌱 This initiative is powered by our wonderful volunteers who help with Pantry operations and outreach efforts.

πŸ’š Mabel’s Bakery, Costco, Farm Boy and Fiesta Farms have all generously supported the Pantry with in-kind donations!

When we come together to support our neighbours in need, the possibilities are endless. Make a donation in support of the Community Pantry today to keep the shelves stocked and our community nourished. Visit https://www.surreyplace.ca/services/community-pantry/ to learn more 🧺🫢.

Every person with a developmental disability is an expert in their own experience.

This Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, our Lived Experience Associates are sharing the misunderstandings they have faced as people with a developmental disability. Understanding begins when we listen, and real inclusion happens when every voice has space at the table.

We invite you to pause and reflect. Are there beliefs about developmental disabilities that you might have without even realizing it?
