Surrey Place was deeply honoured to be recognized with the Corporate Inclusion Award at this year’s PESBODS Gala!

Since July 2025, we’ve been proud to partner with Pesbod, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families raising children with disabilities. Together, we launched a model of care that provides Black-identifying social work support, including short-term counselling and service navigation for families in the PESBODS community. In just a few months, this collaboration has already supported seven families, delivering care grounded in trust, cultural connection, and lived experience.

A special thank you to the Surrey Place team members who represented us at the gala — Brittany, Collette, and Tekel and to everyone involved in bringing this partnership to life.

Thank you to PESBODS for this recognition, for your partnership, and for championing inclusion in action! We look forward to continuing this important work together 💕

Turning 18 is a big step in any young person’s life. For people with autism and their families, it also means changes in the services they can receive. Youth programs end, and new adult services begin, but the process can be confusing. Here are a few important things to remember:

🚨Youth services don’t continue automatically
🚨Must apply through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) to access adult services
🚨New eligibility rules for DSO
🚨Different goals for adult services
🚨New financial considerations into adulthood

If your teen is headed into adulthood and you're wondering what service changes you need to plan for, learn more about Navigating Autism Services in Ontario After Age 18: https://bit.ly/4p0jCD5
