The recommended intake is from diet + supplements.

Speak with your ND or healthcare provider if you’re unsure if you need to increase your Choline intake. Always speak with your ND or HCP before starting any supplements, especially in pregnancy!

Being mindful of infection control for Newborns during cold and flu season can help lower risk of severe infection, hospitalization and complications.

If a Newborn has a fever they are admitted to hospital for 24-36hrs. Stressful for mom and baby.

Practicing hand washing, keeping your distance if feeling ill, limiting visitors during the first month are all ways to keep baby safe.

If you’re interested in discussing your baby’s health and how Naturopathic medicine can compliment routine medical care book in for a Discovery Call! [link in bio]

Importance of Vitamin D testing in Pregnancy.

This study showed that screening pregnant patients for Vitamin D deficiency and treating may reduce adverse events:
- Preeclampsia (NNS 11)
- Gestational diabetes (NNS 50)
- Preterm delivery (NNS 20)

NNS = the number of people needed to be screened to prevent one negative outcome.

NOTE - Work with an ND to test Vitamin D levels and choose an appropriate dose. It is possible to take too much Vitamin D so always speak with your ND, OB/MD or Midwife before starting new supplements during pregnancy.

Test, don’t guess!

39 million children (under 5yrs) were estimated to be overweight or obese in 2020 and one factor may be early life nutrition.

This new study is interesting as it questions the impact of maternal lifestyle choices on breastmilk composition and how those changes may benefit infant health.

In fact, its been said the period from conception to 2yrs, term ‘the first 1000 days’ may be the most important time for nutritional influence on children’s health.

As an ND I am all about preventative medicine. I love the idea of starting by supporting maternal health, to hopefully set children up for better health in adulthood!

Note - More research is needed to study the effect of higher adiponectin levels in breast milk and the impact on infant health. As well as how other lifestyle factors like stress may affect breast milk composition.

Big News ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am very excited to announce that Seed Fertility Program is now Live!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took this photo in the Spring when I was recording the content for S***m factor fertility, as part of Flourish’s Fleur Preconception Program.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When it comes to Fertility, so much of the information out there focuses on egg or women’s health with very little focus on s***m health. This perplexed me, since up to 50% of the causes of infertility can be related to s***m health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why was no one talking about the evidence based factors that could affect s***m health (ex diet, lifestyle, types of exercise etc.)? 🤔
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is why I created the content for Seed ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A program consiting of bite size videos (because you’re busy).
Summarizing the evidence on things you can do to support s***m health.
Bonuses - Meal Plan, Daily Checklist, cheat sheets..
