A real-life scenario we had to share with you!
👉 Here’s what happened: one of our teenage patients took an elbow to the side of her head during a game and was left dizzy and nauseous as a result of it. Her family doctor checked her for a concussion and told her to stay out of sports for two weeks.
The concussion symptoms cleared up after a few days. But the headache on the side of her head was persisting. 🤕
When our chiropractor saw her two weeks later, nobody had assessed her neck. She didn't even have neck pain, so it made sense that no one thought to check. But upon examination, there were trigger points in her neck, that when pressed, referred pain right around her eye and temple. The exact spot where she was feeling the headache.
Treatment included soft tissue work, acupuncture, and a mid-back and neck adjustments and her headaches improved significantly! 🙌
This happens more often than people realize. After a head injury, a fall, whiplash, even a fender bender, your neck can be the source of headaches that nobody thinks to investigate. The pain shows up in one place, but the cause is somewhere else entirely.
If you've been dealing with headaches that won't go away, especially after any kind of impact or injury, get your neck checked. It might be the one thing nobody's looked at yet!
