🧡 🌈 🐾 Remembering Koda 🐾 🌈 🧡
From the first time Koda arrived at our house, he was excited to explore his new surroundings and the new people in his life. He was compelled to follow us around the house whenever we moved. Even if he was tired, he mustered up the strength to stay close to us.
Throughout his life, he was willing to learn new tricks, meet new pet friends, go on walks, work diligently for treats and was a fierce defender of our backyard from squirrels and rabbits. His hearing was very good too., for when I began to prep to any meal, he would make his way to where I was and waited patiently for something to ‘drop’.
He developed his own style to get our attention. It didn’t matter who was visiting us, he would directly go to the person who he knew would drop a nibble/treat. He would nudge them with his nose if they didn’t get the message.
Whenever someone came home with any type of bag, it was his responsibility to sniff and ensure all was status quo and the items were safe to enter our home.
Near the end, he was able to ‘communicate’ with us with his eyes which told us exactly what he needed. Help to get up some steps, attention or help to just get up because he just wasn’t able to that on his own. Something that broke our hearts.
In the end, we knew that the very difficult decision was to be made. His body shape was growing in ways that looked odd. His eyes that asked for so much help. The fatigue that was so obvious.
Now, Koda is helping the new veterinarians learn so they can do better for pets they will encounter in their careers.
Although we will miss our Koda always, our heats are at peace knowing that Koda is pain free and pray he’s frolicking with pet friends that went before him.
Rest In Peace darling Koda. You know that we loved you.
