I'm hosting an event. Please spread the word.

Calling all integrative health practitioners, biohackers, and people interested in improving their health through science-based solutions and strategies!

Come and join Toronto's Integrative Health Discussion Group at an event being held at the Madison Avenue Pub (madisonavenuepub.com) on Sunday March 10th at 2pm.

The topic: What foods and supplements can we take and what should we avoid to improve our gut biome for the sake of our physical and mental health?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The gut microbiome impacts our:

immune system
hormone levels
mental health
longevity
Let’s discuss how we can reduce our risk of developing autoimmune, heart, and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as arthritis, diabetes, and cancer.

Hippocrates of Kos (460-377 BCE) argued:

“All disease starts in the gut.”
“Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.”
“The physician treats, but nature heals.”
“Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.”
“Physicians are many in title but very few in reality.”
To ground our discussion, it is suggested that you check out a Dr. Mark Hyman’s discussion with Dr. Steven Gundry on the Doctor’s Farmacy podcast entitled The Science Of Your Gut Microbiome: How Healing Your Gut Can Improve Your Physical and Mental Health. See: https://drhyman.com/blog/2024/01/10/podcast-ep838/

To cover the deposit on the room, the cost of hosting a Meetup group, and in order to only attract people serious about this topic, there is a $5 fee to attend this event.

Your host will be Ambrese (ambrese.com), the new organizer of Toronto’s Health & Wellness Meetup Group.

I’m excited to talk to Dr. Steven Gundry about gut diversity and how a diverse gut biome is directly linked to health and longevity.

Last night, I spent a long time ordering Urolithin A and Stemregen from the USA.

Here is some research about Urolithin A: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8777576/

I'm concerned with Stemregen. I'm concerned about their costs. I don't want to be a victim of fad or marketing money making ploy.

I spent a lot of time last night asking AI about Stemregen and lots of science/medical questions. I think it's worth the money. I have hope that it could really help me like nothing else other than unaffordable stem cell therapy.

Here is a podcast where Dave Asprey speak with Stemregen founder Christian Drapeau: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-new-fountain-of-youth-plant-based-stem/id451295014?i=1000643504621

I spend a lot of time looking at all the supplements. The evidence I've seen regarding the positive impacts of L-Carnitine, NAC, coq10/ubiquitol, NMN, and ALA has merit to me. I'm not a doctor or scientist but I'm trying to listen to the ones that seem more credible and where there seems to be consensus. Research about the benefits of magnesium, zinc, and vitamins C/D3/K2 makes sense to me.

Here is what Harvard biologist Dr. David A. Sinclair takes: https://healthnews.com/longevity/longevity-supplements/dr-sinclairs-longevity-supplement-and-drug-stack/

The more I read, the more people appear to have issues with various types of foods. I've never heard anything bad about organic blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, cherries, and pomegranates. There is lots of debates about oils. I switched to mainly olive oil now. I'm trying to be mindful at eating at restaurants where vegetable and canola oil being the main things most places use.

My knowledge is limited. I'm trying my best to navigate all the information. Listening to health podcasts. Doing research.

I'm curious what you think of this article on longevity by Dr. Mark Hyman: https://www.gq.com/story/mark-hyman-real-life-diet. He stresses the importance of Urolithin A. So does Dr. Stephen Gundry. These are people who are openly skeptical and often disagree with other famous leading doctors. I really respect them.

I learnt a lot from this podcast: https://drhyman.com/blog/2024/01/10/podcast-ep838/ I would love you to watch or listen to it.

Here is another doctor in the field disagreeing with the doctors above on some things. Please check out why he disagrees with them. https://drstanfield.com/en-ca

Anyways, this is a lot of information. I would like to know all your thoughts on it.

As someone who struggled with their weight starting as a teenager, the information in the video below would have radically changed my life for the good decades ago.

For me, it's all about elimination diets and taking well-researched supplements while paying attention to costs. Intermittent fasting, frequent daily physical activity, and a good night's sleep just add to the positive daily routine goodness.

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited on the Liquid Green Health Show podcast by Janet and Fred Cox. They also invited me back the following week where we talk about pre-diabetes, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome among other things.

In the first podcast below, I discuss eating a less inflammatory diet. Based on my observations, this diet alone encourages weight loss for those overweight when paired with carful portion control of fat and protein. Adding supplements takes things to the next level.

I take pills and teas when I wake up, my first meal, and then a bedtime. I want every meal to have "FFPP" -- "fibre, fat, protein, and phytonutrients". I embrace a 100% rule against ingesting all dairy, legumes, grains, bad fats, or ultra processed foods. I avoid corn, peas, and potatoes. I pay attention to lectin/oxalate content and pesticide/metal toxicity in foodstuff. I aim to eat berries, cruciferous, and bitter leafy greens every day. I consume complex herbal teas., a variety of non-psychotropic mushrooms (often using the "lemon tek" method), and green things that grow in the sea more and more as I get older.

I aim to have every day be toxin free of alcohol (horrible for heart, liver, pancreas, brain, etc), THC (I worry particularly about heart damage from THC gummies), and anything that you can smoke.

I struggle trying to follow the prescribed life above. I screw up some days. However, I keep trying. I know I feel better and I'm stronger when I stick with the program.

One big result from all this effort is the following: I'm 48 and I feel far better than I did as a teenager.

Today, I signed up to become the Organizer of the Toronto Health & Wellness Meetup Group (https://www.meetup.com/healthy-beauty/).

This group has over 3,000 members and it has been abandoned for a while. I want to use it as a forum to spread the word on how people can improve their lives using science-based research.

I believe in the benefits of elimination anti-inflammatory diets and intermittent fasting. I want people to consider the wonders that supplements can provide, while paying careful attention to costs. Supplements can take you places where diet and exercise alone will never get you.

I encourage people to do their own research and rely upon books/podcasts/videos of experts like Dr. Mark Hyman, MD and Dave Asprey. I also like the work of self-help commentators like Dr. Benjamin A. Hardy. I am constantly using wireless headphones to listen to podcasts when I'm commuting or at the gym.

I have worked with numerous individuals, helping them transform their lives. Many people come to me for advice on how to lose weight, however, I try get them to focus on bigger issues like preventative medicine to improve their overall quality of health. Through my work, those who have just wanted to lose weight report changes like no longer needing Viagara and/or significant improvements to their mental health and energy levels.

I believe in the power of food and supplements to transform a person's life. Food is medicine. To change, I advocate a diet/supplements approach first, not talk therapy. Better nutrition leads to better thinking.

I also advocate for people to have a 100% rule against eating dairy, grains, legumes, and vegetable/canola oil. Plus, ultra processed foods are not good. With an 80% rule, you have to think about every decision. A 100% rule means it's just a clear no.

I say give it two weeks and give yourself completely over to the program we/you decide on. Feel the difference for yourself. Make sure to measure your waist at the start and weigh yourself every morning, since what you don't measure you can't track.

As my personal research and experimentation on myself has progressed, I now talk to people about things that I personally do at home like IPL and red light therapy skin treatment, along with the various skin creams that are medically proven to provide benefits. I am also trying to better master self-hypnosis.

I continue to be surprised that people with thyroid issues on Synthroid don't know about the concerns around consuming cruciferous vegetables, or why those with kidney stones still think eating lots of kale and raspberries is good for them.

Through the Toronto Health & Wellness Meetup group, I hope to hold events that spread awareness about what modern medicine has found and the numerous highly effective ways people can change their minds, bodies, and spirits today.

I am seeking event spaces for public education sessions.

I want to collaborate and work with others who share my philosophy and vision.
