What to expect at your first osteopathy visit
Your first appointment is all about understanding you and how your body works as a whole.
1️⃣ Case history (the conversation part)
We’ll start with a detailed discussion about:
• Your main concerns and symptoms
• Past injuries, surgeries, and medical history
• Lifestyle factors like work, stress, sleep, and movement
This helps us understand not just where it hurts, but why it might be happening.
2️⃣ Osteopathic assessment
Next comes a hands-on assessment where we look at:
• Posture and movement patterns
• Joint mobility, muscle tension, and fascia
• How different areas of the body are compensating
Osteopathy looks at how everything is connected — not just the painful spot.
3️⃣ Treatment (time permitting)
If time allows, we’ll begin treatment during the first visit.
This may include gentle hands-on techniques to improve mobility, release tension, and support the body’s natural healing process.
Bottom line:
The first visit is about building the full picture. Assessment first, treatment second — because guessing is not a treatment plan 😌
