Inflammation is perceived by your body as a form of stress. And stress is a big enemy of balanced hormones.⁣

As a result, it can impair ovulation and therefore progesterone production, it also decreases the efficiency of what you produced! And prevents detoxing estrogen from your body. ⁣

All of this leads to estrogen dominance ( PMS, weight gain, moodiness, anxiety, heavy periods, decreased fertility, etc.)⁣

⭐Consistency is more important than perfection.⁣

I was chatting with my client the other day who finally adopted this mindset. Before we met, she was living an inflammatory lifestyle for fifty years leading her to a spiral of hormonal imbalances.⁣

It would be an unsustainable torture for her if she had to change her lifestyle radically from one day to another.⁣

Instead, I wanted her to implement small changes into her lifestyle and be consistent with following them.⁣

Let’s have a look at some examples:⁣

Protein is metabolically supportive, can help regulate the hormones that control hunger and fullness, and helps control blood sugar. Some examples are organic meat such as chicken, turkey⁣

Healthy fats are actually essential to your hormone health. We need fat and cholesterol to make hormones in the first place. Having fat as part of your balanced meal will help stabilize your blood sugar. Some good options are olive oil, avocado, nut butters, coconut oil, grass-fed butter and ghee. ⁣

Lastly, carbs/fibre. Not all carbs are bad for you fact, whole food carbs like sweet potato, pumpkin, veggies and fruit can all be super nourishing for your hormone health and your gut health thanks to their fiber content. It’s the refined simple carbohydrates such as refined sugar, white rice, bread, pastries - that cause problems when eaten in excess or without sufficient protein and fat to prevent spikes and dips in blood sugar.⁣

When building your meals, make it a priority to have one of each element on your plate, always. Stable blood sugar helps keep our brain healthy, our energy levels stable and our mood balanced. ⁣

As you can see, there are several ways the stress response (or HPA axis) is stimulated. Unfortunately with modern life we are exposed to many, many triggers. ⁣
