They say it takes a village — but what does it really mean to build one? 💛

Join us for Building Your Village, a powerful panel conversation at this year’s Midwife Day Community Baby Shower. We’ll explore the importance of community, care networks, and the support systems that help Black mothers/birthers, babies, and families thrive through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

This conversation will centre the truth that no one should have to navigate this journey alone. From family and friendships to doulas, midwives, and chosen community, we’re talking about what it means to create a village that truly shows up.

📢Ancestral Hands Midwives is hosting our second annual Midwife Day Community Baby Shower as part of Toronto Black Maternal Health Week, and we’re inviting our village to show up in real, tangible ways. 🤎

We are currently looking for:

📸 Photographers to donate their time for micro maternity photo shoots at the Shower
🎶 Entertainment: musicians, dancers, spoken word artists etc. to help create a joyful, welcoming space.
🎁 Swag Bag Sponsors: businesses who can contribute samples, products, or coupons for new and expectant parents.
🙌🏾 Volunteers to help us bring this day to life.

True allyship goes beyond Black History Month. It looks like investing your time, your skills, your resources, and your presence to support Black families, especially during pregnancy and postpartum.

If you’ve been wondering how to be in true allyship, this is one way.

To volunteer, donate, or contribute, please DM us or email info@ancestralhands.ca

Black History Month isn’t just about the past.

It’s about the life we protect right now.

Black midwives have always been here, guiding birth, holding families, and keeping our communities alive when the system would not.

This month, we’re honouring Black birth.
Black parents.
Black futures. 🖤
