Another self-care tip from our Parent Resource Coordinator.
This valentines day share a mindful hug with your child or other family member.
Research has shown that hugging has positive effects on your health:
Cuddling promotes happiness and lowers stress hormones.
Physical affection can help the brain, the heart and other body systems.
Hugging boosts the “love hormone” oxytocin which in turn reduces feelings of stress, heart rate and blood pressure.
How to make your next hug more mindful:
Bring your attention to your breath and imagine love being breathed in and out as you hug.
Take an extra moment and tap into your senses. Notice things like that smell of their hair. The feel of their skin against yours.
