Winter is coming! Remember to winterize your mobility products. We have a good supply of cane ice tips in store with free installations of course and we also can give your rollator walkers a good pre-winter tune up.

Winter tip #1 and the most important tip: If you use your walker outdoors in the winter you will encounter enemy #1 of all mobility devices: salt. I have had to battle some very difficult brake repairs and even a corroded wheel joints in the past. Sometimes the damage from salt is just too much and the brakes are lost. To prevent this I suggest a very quick, easy, and affordable solution. First, a can of WD40 will do wonders for the wheel joints but not for brakes (too slippery). For the brakes and pretty much all of your walker I suggest these workshop wipes that can be bought at Dollarama (see photo). Leave the tube of these wipes by your entranceway and try to make it a habit to give your walker a little wipe down whenever you come in from winter conditions. That little bit of cleaning can add years to the brake life of your rollator.

New Era Pharmacy will now be offering semi frequent walker repair clinics in store. 100% free tune ups and free labor on any needed repairs. Only potential costs would be parts but rarely are parts ever needed barring lost screws or hand grip replacements.

Also if interested, we can help you find physiotherapists or occupational therapists to do ADP assessments that allow certain mobility devices to be covered by the government. There are unfortunately some charges for this but if a new walker is needed and if you qualify, it's the way to go for sure.
