Diet soda is not the villain or the hero.
Swapping regular Coke for Diet Coke might lower the sugar hit, but it does not automatically make the choice healthy. The bigger picture is what your body and habits are getting used to. If every drink still needs to taste intensely sweet, the craving usually stays in charge.
That is the part people miss. Health is not just about avoiding sugar spikes. It is also about reducing dependence on sweetness, paying attention to how certain ingredients make you feel, and being honest about what is actually helping long term.
A diet drink can be a useful step for some people. It just is not the finish line.
Better choices are not always about finding the perfect substitute. Sometimes they are about needing less of the thing in the first place.
