We have some exciting activities planned — including our Community BBQ on August 19 🍔🌭 and plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine in our beautiful garden 🌼🌿. We’d love for you to come in and join us! 🥧🍑 Peach Pie & Sweet Memories 🍑🥧
Ahh, the aroma of fresh-baked peach pies filled the halls at McCowan Retirement Residence as our wonderful residents rolled up their sleeves and got to work in the kitchen!
As they stirred, rolled, and baked, stories began to flow — cherished memories of baking with their mothers, flour-dusted aprons, and pies cooling on the windowsill on warm summer days.
There’s something special about how baking brings back the sweetest moments of the past... and of course, the best part? Enjoying that warm, delicious slice together when it's all done! 😋
Here’s to good company, shared stories, and homemade pie!

🍑🥧 Sweet Moments at Baking Club! 🥧🍑What a delightful afternoon we had at our Baking Club! Our residents rolled up their sleeves and enjoyed making delicious one-bite peach pies — and even more fun eating them! The joy didn't stop at the baking table — we had some adorable little visitors and loving family members join us, making the day even more special. There’s nothing better than enjoying the fruits of your labor (especially when served with ice cream 🍨) and sharing laughter and conversation with friends and family.
Thank you to everyone who joined us — your presence made it a truly heartwarming day! 💛

🍦 Sweet Summer Vibes! 🎶What a fantastic time we had at our Ice Cream Social! Residents came together to enjoy scoops of their favorite flavors, lively music, and—most importantly—each other’s company.
The smiles were as big as the sundaes, and the conversations were even sweeter. From toe-tapping tunes to shared laughter under the sun, it was the perfect way to cool down and connect.

Another fantastic morning at MRR! 🌞 We beat the heat this morning with our reading circle while tending to the garden. The fresh air, good company, and a great book made for a perfect start to the day. 🌿📖

Our residents sure do love their creative arts here at McCowan Retirement Residence! This time, they put their artistic talents to work by designing their very own picturesque windows — complete with beautiful, hand-crafted flowers. 🌼🖼️Each piece is a unique reflection of their imagination, and the results were nothing short of stunning. It’s always a joy to see our community come together through art and self-expression! 💕

🎨✨ Creativity in Full Color! ✨🎨 Our talented residents have been putting their imagination — and sustainability — to work! ♻️ Using recycled materials, they created stunning Cuban lady silhouettes full of vibrant color, texture, and flair. 💃🌺
Every piece was thoughtfully reused and transformed into eye-catching works of art. It’s amazing what a little creativity and community spirit can do — proof that beautiful things can come from even the simplest materials!

✨ Yesterday, we were treated to a vibrant and joyful cultural performance here at McCowan! ✨Our residents truly enjoyed the beautiful costumes, energetic music, and talented dancers who brought so much life and color to our day. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience and celebrate culture together as a community. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Lifestyles Aide, Sujee, who is also a talented dance teacher. Sujee made this special event possible by inviting her dancers to come in and share their talents and traditions with us. We’re so grateful for the passion and dedication she brings to enriching the lives of our residents. 💃🎶❤️

👮‍♂️Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Constable Blaise from 41 Division to speak with our residents about senior safety and the latest scams that are targeting our community. His visit was both informative and reassuring, and we’re so grateful for the time he took to educate, empower, and connect with everyone. Constable Blaise did a fantastic job explaining common scam tactics, how to spot them, and what to do if you ever feel unsure or unsafe. Even better, he stayed afterward to answer every single question—with patience and kindness. Thank you again, Constable Blaise, for looking out for our community and helping keep our seniors safe and informed! 💙

It was more than just a lovely day — it was an afternoon of connection, creativity, and the joy of shared accomplishment.
