Today is World Menopause Day

Whether you're just over 40 with no symptoms, in the throws of perimenopause or you've crossed that threshold into menopause - the reality is - all women will go through menopause.

Although a small percentage of women will go through menopause with no symptoms, the majority of women (85% or greater) will have symptoms, some quite debilitating.

Menopause can be a very tough time for women - emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Women often feel that they are not being heard, seen or valued. They often turn inwards and don’t share what they are feeling or what is happening to them.

The struggle is real.

I’m here to tell you that I see you and I hear you.

Together, let’s change the conversation about Menopause.

Let’s work together to make it a regular conversation, one filled with understanding and compassion, where women are seen, heard and supported! 💕

Want a healthier Halloween treat without artificial flavours, refined sugars and unhealthy oils?
🍬If you're anything like me Halloween is a bit of a mine field. As soon as I see the candies on the shelves, it brings me back to childhood and I want some. Especially anything chocolate!!🍫
To still feel like you're getting a treat but not getting all the unhealthy stuff the halloween candies bring, this recipe fits the bill.
Chocolate crunch bars
Ingredients:
🎃 1/3 cup Almond butter
🎃. 1/4 cup Coconut oil
🎃. 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
🎃. 2 tbsps H**p seeds
🎃. 2 tbsps Ground flax seed
🎃. 1/4 cup Maple syrup
🎃. 2 1/2 cups Rice puffs cereal
Directions:
👻. Stir together all ingredients except the cereal in a mixing bowl. Once combined, gently fold in the cereal until well coated.
👻. Transfer to a loaf pan or square pan lined with parchment paper and pack it down. Freeze for at least 2 hours.
👻 Slice into bars and enjoy! 😊

Ahhhh Energy….

Today I am a 🙂 because I stayed up way too late watching Schitt's Creek! If you haven't watched it check it out, it's freakin hilarious!! With everything going on in the world and Canada right now sometimes you just need some lightness and laughter!

Did I WANT to work out this morning - not really, but I did anyways.

You see….moving my body gives me energy.

Did I overdo it - nope. I listened to my body and toned my workout down a bit.

Moving my body every single day is one of the most simple things I can do to keep my energy up and my focus strong.

Things Nobody Warned Me About Perimenopause….

Nobody warned me perimenopause would hijack my brain so much with brain fog and forgetting things that I would worry I was getting dementia. Why is it so damn hard to find my keys and my phone????

Nobody warned me that I would have absolutely no energy at times and that it would make me want to cancel going out with friends, lie on the couch and do nothing.

Nobody warned me that I would have to deal with embarrassing adult acne and wrinkles at the same time - hello hormone surges!

Symptoms You May Think Are Unrelated But Are All Associated with hormone imbalance in peri-menopause

Western medicine has grouped health and wellbeing into nice neat categories that exist in isolation from each other. When people are struggling with their wellbeing they go see the appropriate experts to help them with their symptoms…

A rheumatologist for their pain issues…a dermatologist because their hair is falling out...and a psychologist because they are depressed.

The problem with this approach is that none of these experts are talking to each other or getting to the potential root cause of all of these problems. They are simply patching the symptoms they are trained to patch...it's like trying to finish a puzzle when they don't have all the pieces.

That is why my approach with hormone imbalance in peri-menopause is so unique. I recognize that seemingly unrelated symptoms may be connected and we work together to find a solution…

What Is Your Daily Self-Care Routine...Do You Have One??

I am hearing a lot of buzz around prioritizing "self-care" these days...but what does that *actually* look like?

I see a lot of these posts accompanied by pictures of spa days and facials...but self-care is not all about pedicures, yoga mats and affirmations.

It's important to practice DAILY self-care.

For some...self-care might mean making sure they take a shower or eat breakfast.

For others...it might mean drinking more water or even making their bed in the morning.

It might mean setting some stricter boundaries on time..or getting some help with childcare responsibilities so that they can go window shopping.

Self-care is going to look different for everyone.

Don't get caught up in the "nice idea" of it.

Think about what you must have/do to be your best on a daily basis.

Then make it a priority.

Ask for what you need and expect it…

Because when you get what you need...everything and everyone you give yourself to in a day will also benefit…

🔸slices of fresh ginger
🔸fresh ground black pepper

DYK that your antibacterial soaps could be a contributing factor to thyroid problems and hormonal imbalances?
Triclosan and similar chemicals found in antibacterial soaps have been known to disrupt the body’s ability to uptake thyroid hormones and interfere with other hormonal processes in the body.
Swap these harmful soaps out for more natural versions. One I like using is DoTerra’s on guard foaming hand wash.
