DO NOT โ€œSELF-ADJUSTโ€ YOUR JAW!

It can lead to long-term damage.

This patient came in with persistent crepitus in the right jaw after months of โ€œself-adjustingโ€, only to develop severe tension and clicking from continuous displacement.

Now on a 12-week treatment plan at our clinic. We are working to restore proper function and relieve his tension.

Dr. Jafariโ€™s face when a patient said, โ€˜I honestly didnโ€™t think he would ever be able to treat my jaw without pain, but today there was none. All the tension and pain are goneโ€”even my tinnitus is better.โ€™

A follow-up panoramic X-ray was taken after four weeks of treatment, showing improvement in joint displacement on the left side. The patient reports significantly reduced pain levels. Additionally, adherence to the prescribed home care regimen has enhanced the patientโ€™s control over jaw opening and increased awareness during chewing and yawning.

Patient came in with chronic jaw pain & clicking on the left side.

Her panoramic x-ray showed a mild joint displacement on the left side. Her diagnoses were myalgia of lateral pterygoid and masseter along with suspected disc displacement with reduction on the left side.

Patient is currently receiving treatment 2x/week for
4-6 weeks.

Post treatment panoramic x-ray will be shared along with the outcome of the treatment once the plan is complete.

Early detection is key to effective treatment!

The โ€œSโ€ and โ€œCโ€ curves in the jaw are common terms used to describe abnormal mandibular movement patterns, particularly when observing jaw motion during opening and closing.

These curves can indicate different types of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction or muscle imbalances.

S-Curve:
An S-curve is characterized by a deviation in the jawโ€™s movement that initially shifts to one side and then returns to the center, resembling an โ€œSโ€ shape when observed in a frontal view.

C-Curve:
A C-curve occurs when the jaw deviates to one side during opening, but does not return to the midline, forming a โ€œCโ€ shape. The deviation typically becomes more noticeable as the mouth opens wider.

Studies have demonstrated that these jaw movement patterns can be valuable diagnostic tools for identifying specific types of TMJ disorders (TMDs).

Book your consultation today if you notice having a curve with your jaw movement.
