Case Manager Spotlight: Abigail Lim, RN, BScN Case Manager,Mentoring Program Lead đź’™

When I came to Canada as an IEN, I didn’t have the right connections or a clear roadmap and the uncertainty was heavy. Now, as a Case Manager, I support IENs the way I once needed. I listen to your story, help you find the best path for your goals, and walk beside you as you rebuild confidence, remember your worth, and move forward in your nursing career.

Sometimes all we need, is to know that someone understands what we are going through.

"I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you've given me since the very beginning. When I first joined the CARE Centre, you were the first person to extend a helping hand and, more importantly, to encourage me to follow a path I once believed was impossible, especially after being away from the profession for so many years. But you believed in me. You reminded me that I could make it, and that belief has pushed me forward. I just wanted to say express my sincere gratitude, dear Bessie, for everything you do for internationally educated nurses like me. You are truly an inspiring and wonderful person, and I admire you deeply."

A message from an IEN Vanessa, to our Case Manager Bessie.

And this is why we do it. This is a messaged received from STARS Case Manager Lourdes.

"The journey was far from easy. Navigating the long and demanding process of becoming an RN in Canada requires a great commitment of effort in terms of time and resources. There were moments I doubted myself and times I wondered if I could keep going, but you always reminded me of my purpose, encouraging me to stay focused on my goals and assuring me that the struggles would be worth it. I am incredibly grateful for all the time you took to explain the process, clarify complex topics, and simply listen when I needed someone to talk to. I am so proud to have completed my journey to becoming an RN, and I am forever grateful for your guidance and support throughout this challenging journey."
- Amina (STARS program participant)

Case Manager Spotlight: Bessie Nasiopoulos (RN, BScN) đź’™

Bessie came to Canada in 2011 with 12 years of nursing experience and quickly learned how hard it can be to restart as an Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN). Facing the “no Canadian experience” barrier, she took survival jobs, navigated costly paperwork and exams, and rebuilt her confidence step by step with perseverance, support, and guidance from CARE Centre.

Today, Bessie has come full circle. As a Case Manager & Professional Development Lead at CARE Centre (and a Transition to Practice instructor), she helps IENs get licensed, regain confidence, and thrive in Canadian nursing, because it’s not just about registration, it’s about reclaiming your professional identity.

Our PASS program is now available pre-arrival and post-arrival across Canada!

“Since arriving in Saskatchewan, CARE Centre has been an excellent support from the very start of my nursing journey here in Canada; they patiently guided me with the licensing process, ensuring I understand each document and requirement clearly; also goes the extra mile by providing resources to better prepare me for my upcoming assessments and exams and always respond promptly. CARE Centre has also helped me stay organized, connected me with other helpful agencies, and offered great advice on employment readiness and how to integrate into the professional community.”

Thank you Mary C for sharing your experience, we are so grateful you are here!
