There are a lot of weight loss gurus, influencers, heck even health professionals showing up on my feed.

While I don’t doubt their ability and desire to help,

The truth is, I don’t see myself in them. Their bodies feel unattainable, beautiful, and untouchable.

Their offers don’t take into consideration that I am a brown girl, what my day job is, the type of food I like to eat (and grew up eating), whether I have enough money, time, energy to get a gym membership

These are called *social determinants of health*
Whether I can afford to eat organic all the time (or have my meals delivered), have the free time to dedicate hours to self care, or have a gym/facility near me.

We all have different privileges and resources

We also have very very different bodies.

I’ll never be healthy if my goal is to get skinny and dance around in a bikini.
(If that’s your jam more power to you)

The women I help want to release the excess so that they can enjoy the range of wonderful and healthy bodies they do have.

I teach them how to use the resources that are already available to them so they can best achieve their desired bodies.

Wouldn’t weight loss feel more attainable if we all stopped trying to look like the same IG model and instead focused on our individual strengths?

I can help you with that. DM me “Ready” to find out how!

Being South Asian and having PCOS myself, I quickly learned that the vast majority of health info wasn’t made with us in mind

Diet trends or popular weight loss programs fail to recognize the importance of cultural foods and our identity. Many of my past clients have said that one of the reasons fat loss diets are so hard to stick to is because they taste bland!

Separating ourselves from our core roots can make an already restrictive diet, much less tolerable.

As diet culture replaced nourishment, I noticed a shift towards a new identity amongst the women in my circles. One where *culture* was being on a diet.

Food obsession. A preoccupation with never feeling good in our skin, feeling fat, feeling dark (colonialism influenced beauty standards). Again, restrictive “diet foods” crept into our kitchens to change our bodies into something society told us was beautiful.

Being on a diet itself became the trend. Starvation was self care. And the foods we grew up eating became a quirkycheat meal.

We didn’t talk about what actually mattered: reproductive health, boundaries, and the fact that many of us had irregular periods.

I became a naturopath to help understand this trend and how it affected my own body. I recognized the same dangerous habits in me, we’re in many of my friends, aunts, sisters, and cousins.

Today, as a brown skinned naturopath and coach,
I empower women to heal their PCOS, lose weight, and LOVE THEIR BODIES

While eating the foods they love, finding confidence in skin, and never dieting again.

What is your driving factor?

Why do you desire to have the body of your dreams?

I used to be obsess about my why, and aligning with others who also desired their dream body so they could:
〰️Fit into that perfect dress
〰️Wear a bikini at the beach
〰️Get the attention of someone special

You know what all these reasons have in common?

They all have a deadline. A time stamp that’ll tell you exactly when the low cal diet or spring detox is over.

Those goals are only about how you think you’ll look on the outside. But not how you’ll feel on the inside, and definitely not long term.

When I was younger I believed that if I hit a certain number on the scale, my life would drastically improve. I’d have bikini body that would look hot in any dress and boys would run to ask me out. (Lol)

What actually happened was I was starving most of the time, miserable, and missed out on life.

Today my why is having a healthy confident body so that I can:
🤸🏽‍♀️ Fit into my running shoes so I can summit a mountain
🤸🏽‍♀️Wear whatever the heck I want, because clothes are meant to fit me not the other way around
🤸🏽‍♀️Pay attention to those I love, and have the energy to keep up with them.
And:
Give myself the joy of loving the life I know I deserve.

What is your “why”?

I used to obsess about my body.

I wasn’t thin enough, or light enough, I had way too much hair.

I was so worried about having body hair as a young teen that I convinced my mom to take me to the doctor because I was sure something was wrong with me.
Nothing was wrong with me.

I was a little chubby and only felt bad about it when I saw pictures of myself standing next to friends who hadn’t yet developed.

Dieting had always just been a part of growing up. I saw it in magazines, saw older cousins, aunts, my mum, talk about how they’re eating different to lose weight.

While I naturally gravitate towards veggies, I was still prone to overeating and under exercising.

Dieting felt like a right of passage into adulthood. The rightful cycle was being on a diet, losing weight, being off the diet, gaining weight. And repeat.

I became so obsessed it’s the nutritional value of food in my 20s that the math still hurts my brain.

What I’ve gotten wrong for the last 20 years was that DIET IS NOT a temporary radical change in eating habits. A DIET IS NOT short term starvation. That’s just starvation!

A DIET IS: what we consume on a daily basis that keeps us alive, and is impacted by our environment

Finding balance with my hormones has pushed me to unlearn the unhealthy mindset habits I’d collected along the way.

I help my patients and clients achieve long term weight loss by teaching and coaching them how to unlearn the old habits, and embrace a mindset of sustainable sustenance - LEADING TO ✨Effortless Weight loss ✨

I hope wherever you are on your journey, that the path brings you back to yourself. Why you do the things you do. And what diet means to you.

You are amazing!!! 💕

I know what you’re thinking,

“How can my weight gain cause my PCOS, and my PCOS make it even harder to lose weight - at the same time?!”

Hearing this from your doctor, along with “just lose weight” feels defeating.

Especially when PCOS doesn't come with an exact reason.

Here's why PCOS and weight gain is NOT your fault:
👉🏽PCOS isn't a punishment for how you eat
👉🏽Weight gain is NOT a punishment for having PCOS
👉🏽You were advised that birth control was the only option to "fix" your cycles, and that birth control caused you to put on the bs
👉🏽PCOS can be familial, and we can't choose our genes

‼️You are so much more than your symptoms
‼️Your self worth is not dependent on the
number on the scale
‼️You are deserving, you are plenty, you are enough

Let me know if you agree! Comment 🙋🏽‍♀️ below!

Allow me to be vulnerable for a moment,

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching and purpose-finding, and listening to my gut, and messages from my mentors and the universe..

Because for a long time I didn’t have the feeling of knowing. Knowing exactly who I was meant to be, or what I was meant to do. Knowing that I wanted to save the world and have altruistic aspirations (and maybe those will grow)

I tried on a lot of different hats, a lot of different skins and identities. I’m short, I followed a lot of “should’s”

I should.. be a doctor

I should.. help everyone who comes my way

I should.. spend my time doing things for others

Here I am. In my 30s, burnt out. Feeling like my body and health betrayed me.

The decisions I made to get here were always based on what others might think, and how I wanted them to see me.

I sacrificed my own time, health, self care habits for these should’s.

When I really reeeeally think about my decisions, I realize that some of these should’s are selfish. I became a naturopathic doctor to help others, but first to heal myself. So that I can be better, do better, live life that I desire.

On this this journey of understanding hormones and wellness I realized that I’m doing this work I have been experiencing healing too.

I’ve learned that if we’re not healing for entirely selfish reasons, we’ll not fully be healed.

If you’re healing for your family, kids, friends, work - while these can be great reasons to heal yourself.. the should’s and burn out will find you. Because it’s not for yourself.

I pray you find healing, and embrace the selfish reasons to commit to your health journey. That, is the most selfless act you can do 💕

How do you manifest outcomes faster?

This ^^ was right after one of our 🐋 watching adventures.

We didn’t see any whales that day.

We did see thousands of dolphins and their babies jumping around in the water, playing in the wake of the boat, and feasting on the fish underneath us.

I attended a conference where I heard speak about manifesting the outcome sooner. He shared that we can change our perception of time by shifting what we focus on.
If we focus on the outcome:
“I’ll be happier when ___”
- the desired outcome will always feel so far away from us.

If we focus on the journey and next steps:
“To go whale watching again I must next___”
“To have the body I desire my first step is to___”

Shifting perception and prioritizing what’s important to us can manifest our desires (including our health and wellness desires) sooner, and make the journey enjoyable along the way.

6 months later we returned to California ☀️ and set off to 🐋 watch again. And we saw one! A shy grey whale bopping it’s head along the waves. Incredible!

What a sustainable diet for weight release IS NOT: restrictive

This is proof you can still have carbs while losing weight sustainably.

Today we tried sweet potato toast for the first time, and it made breakfast feel so happy!

Before this would have been eggs and kale (great for protein and veg), but sometimes my plate feels a little lonesome.

Let me tell you, I have never felt this happy, grounded, and nourished at breakfast as I did today!

I got the recipe from Eat Feel Fresh by Sahara Rose and chose my own toppings:
Eggs, tahini, paprika, and salt

It tasted a little sweet, nutty, wholesome, and warm!

Let me know if you try this!

Insulin is your FAT STORAGE hormone

Insulin is not necessarily the bad guy, it’s job is to bring sugar to the cell to be used to make energy

FAT gain happens when the cells stop responding to insulin. The sugar has to go some where, so insulin takes the excess sugar to adipose (fat tissue), where it stays and grows.

Insulin resistance is a two part issue,
1)Why are the cells not responding to the insulin?
2)Why is there an excess of sugar in the blood?

This disregulation of insulin and sugar is common in women with insulin type PCOS
And affects the regularity of of cycles, ovulation, and skin (to name a few)

If you have PCOS and are struggling to release weight, when was the last time your insulin, fasting glucose, and other metabolic parameters were checked?
