Common Q: which serum should I use? There are so many to choose from?! Serums are an awesome step to inject a high dose of hydration into your skin. They go UNDER your moisturizer so they can pe*****te deeply into your skin, unimpeded.
But how do we know which to use? Vitamin C? Niacin? Pearl powder? Hyaluronic? Peptides found in outer space???? Ok ok so that last one doesn’t exist but you get the point.
Well first thing you have to decide is what is the GOAL. A lot of people just read about a new serum or ask a friend what they love. But we believe that skin care needs to be STRATEGIC.
If your skin is sensitive you want to soothe - bases of aloe and rose water are fantastic. Don’t think only about the active ingredients. It’s all about that base! Also avoid stimulating ingredients like vitamin C, ginkgo, ginger - ingredients that are great for antiaging because they STIMULATE blood flow.
If your skin is dull you want the opposite. Get that Vitamin C on!
If your skin is thinning, collagen, hyaluronic, plant stem cells... these all BUILD up up skin, it’s barrier function and water-content.
If you breakout. You need to avoid rosehip oil (see note about the base) as well as you want to focus on scar prevention. That creates a dilemma- while rosehip oil is so good for scars it can push out acne flare ups. Try a rosehip water instead or wait until your skin is no longer breaking out. At that point your strategy has PIVOTED.
Any questions???
