Act #64 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival 🇺🇦🎉

This past weekend we were proud to once again sponsor and take part in the BWV Toronto Ukrainian Festival—a celebration of culture, community, and tradition that we’ve been supporting for many years.

Our booth was buzzing with activity as we handed out glasses cleaner kits and trezubs to festival-goers who stopped by to say hello. We also held a couple of fun contests, including a raffle for a pair of Toronto Maple Leafs tickets (congratulations to our winner, Andriana K.!) and a LEGO jar challenge, with prizes for those who guessed the closest number of pieces. 🧱✨

It’s always an honour to support the Ukrainian community here in Toronto, and this festival continues to be such a meaningful way to come together.

📸 Here are some photos of our team and the fun we had at this year’s festival!

Act #63 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Greenskeeper’s Cup at West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club 🌿🏆

This past Saturday, we were honoured to sponsor the Greenskeeper’s Cup at the West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club, held in memory of Taras Smetaniuk. It was a beautiful day filled with community spirit, fun competition, and a chance to celebrate the sport and the people who make this club so special.

Congratulations to this year’s winners, Tom and Scott, who played their way to the top and were presented the trophy by our President, Jimmy Cardinal. 👏

We’re proud to support the West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club and to help carry on traditions like this that bring people together in our neighbourhood.

📸 Here are a few photos from the tournament and the trophy presentation—thank you to everyone who made the day so memorable!

Act #62 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Supporting 818 Toronto Falcon Squadron Air Cadets ✈️🎟️

At last weekend’s Cabbagetown Festival, we were proud to support the 818 Toronto Falcon Squadron Air Cadets by donating a pair of Toronto Raptors tickets for their raffle.

The Air Cadets had a booth at the festival to share what it’s like to be part of their program, inspire new members, and raise funds for their squadron. Our ticket donation helped encourage festivalgoers to stop by, learn more about this incredible youth program, and support their fundraising efforts.

The Air Cadets give young people opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and explore their passion for aviation—all while giving back to the community. We’re proud to stand behind their mission and contribute to their success.

📸 Here are a few photos from the weekend, capturing the fun and community spirit!

Act #61 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Strides for Solidarity 🇺🇦👟

This past Saturday, we were honoured to sponsor the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada – St. Mary’s Mississauga Branch’s 3rd Annual Walk-a-thon, “Strides for Solidarity.” Held at Lakeside Park in Mississauga, the event brought together a caring community walking with one purpose: to raise funds for urgent needs in Ukraine and here at home.

This year, proceeds will support the First Female Veterans Space Rehab Centre in Lviv, which provides vital medical care and counselling for Ukrainian women who have served in the military. It’s a truly important initiative, addressing female-specific health and rehabilitation needs.

Over the past two years, the walk-a-thon has already raised $39,000, thanks to the dedication of the UCWLC’s 30 members who have collected sponsorships and walked the 5 km route with passion and purpose.

We’re proud to stand alongside them once again, and special thanks to our own Katherine Mamalyga, who participated in the walk on behalf of our team.

📸 Here are a few photos from this inspiring day of solidarity, community, and hope.

Act #60 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Cabbagetown Festival Fun 🎉🍭

This weekend, we’re thrilled to be part of the The 46th Annual Cabbagetown Festival—one of Toronto’s great neighbourhood traditions! A few of our team members are on hand at our booth sharing information about the importance of pre-planning your funeral (because peace of mind is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family).

But it’s not all serious talk—we’ve also come prepared with plenty of free giveaways including glasses cleaners and lollipops for kids. 🍬👓

And for a bit of extra fun, we’ve set up a contest to guess the number of LEGO pieces in a jar. The person who comes closest will win a LEGO set to take home and enjoy! 🧱✨

If you’re at the festival, be sure to stop by our booth, say hello, and join in the fun. We’d love to see you!

Act #58 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Labour Day Weekend Kindness Tip 🚗🌟

With the Labour Day long weekend almost here, let’s remember that part of caring for our community is caring on the road, too.

We found a helpful Ontario-based article that shares practical tips for safe and smooth long-weekend driving:

Here’s a quick checklist for a kinder, calmer road trip:

Plan your timing — avoid travelling during rush hour to ease congestion.

Check your vehicle — tires, fluids, and an emergency kit go a long way.

Take breaks — refresh, rehydrate, and recharge along the way.

Let someone else navigate — you stay focused on the road.

Let’s make safety—and kindness—our travel companions this long weekend. Wishing everyone safe travels and moments of rest and gratitude.

Act #57 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Supporting Reforestation with Northern Casket 🌲🌎

As part of our ongoing commitment to giving back, we’re proud to support the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority through annual donations made possible by our trusted casket supplier, Northern Casket, and their Life Immortal Program.

This program provides families with an opportunity to honour their loved ones simply by choosing a select solid hardwood casket or an Enviro-Casket. In co-operation with Canadian Conservation Authorities, a donation is then made to the Conservation Authority of choice, supporting reforestation projects across our province.

We’ve partnered with Northern Casket—an Ontario-based, family-owned, fourth-generation company—for many years. Owned and operated by Caley, Chris, and Gord Ferguson, they not only manufacture quality caskets here in Ontario, but also lead by example in giving back to the environment through initiatives like this.

We’re grateful to work alongside a Canadian company that shares our values of community, sustainability, and legacy. 🌱

Act #56 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Celebrating Ali, the Happiest Traffic Control Technician 🚦😊

Earlier this week, we had the joy of recognizing someone who brightens our days like no other—Aloyisius (Ali) Young, the traffic control technician “extraordinaire” at Toronto Western Hospital, right across the street from our Bathurst location.

Ali makes the drive all the way from Niagara Falls every single day to direct traffic at the hospital’s busy patient drop-off area. Rain or shine, he’s always smiling, fist-pumping passersby, playing air guitar, dancing to his own beat, and lifting the spirits of everyone around him. His kindness, energy, and joy are contagious, and he reminds us daily of the power of positivity.

As a small token of our gratitude for the light he brings to the community, we surprised Ali with a $50 Tim Hortons gift card. It’s people like him who make our neighbourhoods special, and we are grateful to call him a friend across the street.

Thank you, Ali, for showing us what it means to live with joy in your heart. 💙

Act #55 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness – Supporting A&W’s MS Day 🍔❤️

Today, some of our team stopped in at our local A&W Canada, just around the corner from our Annette location, to join in on Burgers to Beat MS Day and have a little fun together while supporting a great cause.

Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world, with 1 in 400 Canadians living with the disease. Since 2008, A&W has partnered with MS Canada to raise awareness and funds to support those living with MS. On August 21st, $2 from every Teen Burger™ sold will go directly to help Canadians impacted by MS.

We’re proud to be part of this initiative and encourage our community to join in as well—whether it’s grabbing a burger, rounding up your bill, or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps make a difference.

📸 Sharing some photos of our team enjoying themselves while supporting this important cause!

Act #53 of Our 100 Acts of Kindness:
Sharing a cold treat on a hot day 🔥

☀️ In the middle of this summer heat wave, there’s nothing quite like an ice-cold freezie to make the day a little brighter!

As part of our 100 Acts of Kindness celebration, we were happy to share 108 jumbo freezies with the children and team at Kensington Kids Early Learning Centre.

We’re so grateful for the incredible work their team does every day to nurture and support the children in our community. Sometimes, kindness is as simple as a sweet treat on a hot day — and a reminder that we’re all in this together 💙.
