Did you know your TMJ could be the root of more than just jaw pain?
From tension headaches to ear ringing, TMJ dysfunction can show up in surprising ways and many people don’t even realize it. Keep reading to learn more 👇

🦷 What is TMJ?
Your TMJ (temporomandibular joints) connect your jaw to your skull. TMJ dysfunction happens when these joints become irritated, inflamed, or misaligned - causing pain, tension, and more

🔍 Common Symptoms:
• Jaw clicking or popping
• Pain while chewing
• Headaches
• Facial tension
• Limited jaw movement
• Earaches or ear ringing (tinnitus)

⚠️ What Causes It?
• Jaw clenching
• Teeth grinding
• Stress and muscle tension
• Poor posture (neck/shoulders)
• Injury or arthritis
• Dental misalignment

💆‍♀️ Get Relief with Massage Therapy
Massage can relieve muscle tension in the jaw, face, and neck. It helps reduce pain, improve mobility, and reduce stress - addressing both symptoms and root causes.

Cupping Therapy 101 - Curious about those round marks you’ve seen on athletes or in wellness posts? We’re here to break it down for you. As experienced practitioners, we’re here to guide you through the what, how, and why of cupping therapy - and how it can support your healing. Keep reading to learn more! 👇

✨ What is it?
Cupping is an ancient therapy involving suctioning the skin with glass, plastic, or silicone cups. Today, cupping therapy is usually found as a treatment offered by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Registered Massage Therapists.

🌀 How does it work?
The suctioning of the cups to the skin pulls blood to the surface and stimulates healing. This boosts circulation, improves immune function, reduces tension, and supports healing.

💪 Benefits
• Pain Relief & Muscle Recovery - Helps reduce tension and support the body's natural healing
• Improved Circulation – By stimulating blood flow, cupping can aid in detoxication and repair
• Stress Relief & Relaxation – Providing a sense of calm and nervous system support

🔍 Common concerns cupping may help with:
• Back Pain
• Neck & Shoulder Pain
• Headaches & Migraines
• Poor Circulation
• Stress & Tension
• Athletic Recovery

Staying active shouldn’t come with constant aches and limitations.

Whether you’re hitting the trails, chasing after little ones, or just want to move with more ease, chiropractic care can support your lifestyle from the inside out.

Here are 5 ways it can help:

🤸‍♀️ Joint Flexibility & Mobility:
Stiff or restricted joints can limit movement and make daily activities feel harder than they should. Chiropractic care can enhance joint mobility by improving alignment. This reduces movement restrictions and makes it easier to stay active and move comfortably.

🩺 Injury Prevention:
Poor posture goes unnoticed but can contribute to pain and discomfort over time. Chiropractic care helps correct and maintain proper spinal alignment, reducing the strain on muscles and joints, and lowering the risk of injury.

🧠 Nervous System Function:
Your nervous system controls movement, coordination, and reflexes. By addressing spinal misalignments, chiropractic adjustments may help improve nerve communication, helping your body respond more efficiently.

🧊 Reducing Inflammation:
Daily movement, workouts, or even prolonged sitting can lead to inflammation and discomfort. Chiropractic care supports better circulation and lymphatic drainage, helping reduce inflammation, speed up recovery, and minimize discomfort.

💪 Muscle Strength and Endurance
When your body moves efficiently, you're able to engage muscles more effectively and sustain activity more comfortably. Chiropractic adjustments help optimize joint function, allowing you to build strength and improve endurance over time.

Your active life deserves a body that feels supported. Let’s help you move well, feel strong, and keep doing what you love.

✅ Hydration
Dehydration can cause or worsen headaches by reducing blood flow and oxygen to the brain. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water daily, and increase your intake if you're active or in warm weather. Water-rich foods like cucumbers and watermelon can also help!

✅ Essential Oils
Peppermint oil creates a cooling effect that may reduce tension headaches apply to the temples and back of the neck. Lavender oil is known for its calming properties and may help with migraines when inhaled or used in aromatherapy.

✅ Acupressure
Acupressure is an ancient Chinese healing method that helps relieve pain and tension by applying pressure to specific points on the body. Applying pressure to the webbing between your thumb and index finger (LI-4), or at the base of your skull on both sides of your neck (GB20) can ease tension and promote relief.

✅ Relaxation Techniques
Stress is a major headache trigger, but relaxation techniques can help. Deep breathing, meditation, and gentle neck stretches reduce tension and improve circulation. Just a few minutes of mindfulness each day may lower headache frequency.

We can also help with headache relief through chiropractic care. Reach out to learn more or book an appointment today!

🗓 How many treatments will I need?
Each patient is unique. Our job is to help you be as well as possible, as soon as possible, coming to see us as little as possible!
That being said, healing takes time and the muscular and nervous system learn through repetition. We will always let you know what we think is necessary and you will choose how much care you need.

👋 What can I expect on my first visit?
Expect to be welcomed and comfortable in our office. You will be with the doctor for 30 to 45 minutes. Together we will review your health history, any issues you are experiencing, and your goals.
Depending on your history and condition an examination will be performed which may include postural assessment, orthopedic, neurological, and muscular testing.
Your visit will be comfortable and informative. We will answer any questions you may have, explain our findings and let you know how we can help. A detailed report of findings is often reviewed on your second visit as well.

⏱ How long is a regular visit or treatment?
A regular visit typically lasts 10 to 20 minutes depending on your unique condition. Your first two visits are longer, as described in the 'What can I expect
on my first visit?' section.

👨‍⚕️ I've had chiropractic care before but it's my first meeting with you, can I skip the first visit and get a treatment right away?
In order to provide the best care we have to assess and diagnose each new patient before we can provide care.

💼 Does your office bill directly to insurance?
We will provide you with a receipt/statement after each visit which you can submit to your insurer.

One of the questions we hear most often from patients goes a little something like this:

“Why would I see a chiropractor when I’m not in pain?”

While it’s true a number of people come to us initially because they’re looking for a solution for back or neck pain, that’s not the only reason-in fact, it’s far from it!

Here’s a look at how chiropractic care could be beneficial to people at every stage of life.

Young Adults: Young adulthood is a time of increased physical activity and potential injuries. Whether it’s participating in sports or maintaining an active lifestyle, chiropractic care can assist in preventing injuries and enhancing performance. Adjustments can align the spine, improve range of motion, and alleviate muscle tension. Additionally, chiropractic care can address postural problems caused by prolonged sitting or computer use.

Older Adults: As we age, our bodies undergo changes, and chronic conditions may arise. Chiropractic care offers a non-invasive approach to managing these conditions and promoting wellness. It can help alleviate joint pain, improve mobility, and enhance balance, reducing the risk of falls.

Seniors: In the golden years, maintaining independence and quality of life becomes a priority. Chiropractic care can play a significant role in achieving these goals. Adjustments may help manage age-related conditions like osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis. By improving spinal health and nervous system function, chiropractic care supports overall well-being for seniors, allowing them to enjoy their retirement years to the fullest.

It’s Never Too Late to Start Care:
From 0 to 100 and every year in between, we aim to promote proper growth, prevent injuries, manage chronic conditions, and support overall wellness.

Whether you’re in pain or simply want to find out if living better is in the cards for you, we’re here to help. Contact our team to learn more about if focused, gentle care is right for you.
