I hear that every week. And I get it—because the internet makes it sound like your only two options are:
❌ sleep training = cruel
✅ no sleep training = perfect parent

💤 Women are 40% more likely than men to have insomnia.
💤 Women are twice as likely to experience anxiety, which affects sleep.
💤 Women do 70% of nighttime caregiving when there’s a baby in the house.
💤 Hormonal shifts (pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause) impact sleep in ways men will never fully understand.

I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety.

In 2016, I gave birth to my second child. After a smooth and joyful first-time parenting experience, I expected more of the same. But instead, I was hit with debilitating postpartum anxiety that lasted for years.

I wasn’t new to therapy. I knew the tools. I tried everything that had worked before, but nothing helped. Instead of seeking help, I went inward—convinced something was deeply wrong with me.

It took one too many panic attacks before I finally booked an appointment with my doctor. That day changed everything. I got a referral, started doing real work, and finally felt like myself again.

I see so much of my story in the parents I work with today. You did it—you tackled sleep training, your child is sleeping better, and life should feel easier. But instead, you’re feeling:

😰 Stressed about nap lengths and wake windows
🔄 Constantly analyzing sleep patterns, afraid of ‘messing it up’
🤯 Still anxious or on edge—even when your child is asleep

Slams laptop shut dramatically.

Today is my last day online before I take some much-deserved time off. 🥂

2024 has been an incredible year, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting us to support your families. Truly, it’s an honor to do this work every day, and I’m endlessly grateful.

Usually, I wrap up the year wishing I had worked less, but this year… dare I say it… I actually did! Slowly but surely, I’m learning to rest more. Am I perfect at it? LOL, no. But I’m getting there.

I hope you find ways to rest and nourish yourself, too. Ask your partner to handle that late-night feed. Let your mother-in-law take the baby for an hour so you can nap (just one hour, I swear the world won’t end!). Don’t stress if the baby skips a nap—it’s going to be okay.

And if you’re feeling frazzled, don’t hesitate to send me those stressed-out emails over the holidays. I’ll tackle them as soon as I’m back, and we’ll get you rested in no time.

Wishing you the happiest holiday season, the coziest snuggles, and the best sleep. Can’t wait to see you in 2025! 💫

🛏️ Ready for the ultimate bedtime routine? Catch me on The Good Stuff with Mary Berg ( ) TODAY where I shared some simple Dos & Don’ts to help you wind down and get the best sleep ever! 😴✨ Here’s a recap of my top tips for dreamy nights:

✔️ Do Dim the Lights: Lower light levels signal your body to produce melatonin, prepping you for deeper, restful sleep. 🕯️

❌ Don’t Exercise Before Bed: Avoid intense workouts before sleep, as they can elevate heart rate and adrenaline. Opt for gentle stretching instead. 🧘‍♀️

✔️ Do Take a Warm Bath: Add lavender (like Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt or L’Occitane Lavender Bubble Bath) to relax muscles and reduce tension. 🛁💜

❌ Don’t Use Screens: Blue light from screens blocks melatonin, making it harder to fall asleep. Use blue-light-blocking glasses if needed! 📵

✔️ Do Create a Dark Room: Use an eye mask and try a weighted blanket for the coziest, most restorative sleep. 🖤💤
