Physician Assistant Program UofT Physician Assistant Professional Degree Program

The Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant degree ( BScPA ) is a full-time professional, second-entry undergraduate degree program to be based in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (U of T). The BScPA is a University of Toronto degree delivered in collaboration with Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and The Miche

ner Institute for Applied Health Sciences (Michener). The three institutions have formed the Consortium of PA Education (Consortium) to collaboratively contribute in the development, administration and delivery of the U of T degree. The Consortium offers students a balance in academic and clinical orientation, extensive access to healthcare relevant resources and a curriculum delivery model that maximizes rural training and geographic accessibility throughout Ontario. The program is designed to meet the competencies outlined in the National Competency Profile as established by the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA). The aim of the program is to equip graduates with the competencies necessary to establish the foundation for a sustainable Canadian Physician Assistant profession.

After taking a break over the winter holidays, the Health and Wellness Peer Support Service (PSS) is once again open and available to all U of T St. George students at three in-person sites across campus, and online.

PSS offers 1:1, drop-in, confidential, and non-judgmental spaces for students at the University of Toronto St. George Campus. Trained upper-year undergraduate and graduate student peer supporters offer non-clinical, emotional and psychosocial support to their fellow students, help them navigate clinical and non-clinical resources on- and off-campus, and help expand their mental health community of support. No appointments necessary!

The service is available both online (on Zoom), and in-person at Robarts Library, the Engineering and Computer Science Library, and Student Commons.

When: PSS is available every week across its three locations:
• Tuesdays to Fridays at Robarts Library (130 St. George St.), Room 1152, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
• Wednesdays only at the Engineering and Computer Science Library (10 King’s College Rd.), Room 2402C from 11 AM to 4 PM.
• Thursdays only in the Student Commons (230 College St.), Room 246 from 11 AM to 4 PM.
• Wednesdays to Fridays on Zoom.

Registration with CPSO Now Open for Ontario Physician Assistants!

As you’ve likely heard by now, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) will become the regulator for all physician assistants (PAs) in Ontario as of April 1, 2025. The registration period for PAs to become registrants with CPSO is now open.

Reminder: Ontario PAs must be registered with CPSO by April 1 to continue practising with the title of “physician assistant” in the province.

To begin the registration process, PAs should visit the New Applicant Account Creation page on CPSO’s website. We strongly advise you begin the process as early as possible to ensure you have sufficient time to gather and submit all required documentation.

To learn more about what being regulated under CPSO will entail, visit the Physician Assistants section of CPSO’s website, which includes helpful FAQs around registration, delegation, and more.
We also encourage you to subscribe to CPSO’s Dialogue publication, where you’ll receive regular updates from CPSO. You can do so by visiting the Subscribe to Dialogue page. Ontario PAs will automatically receive new issues of Dialogue once they become CPSO registrants.

For any questions, you can email CPSO’s registration team at inquiries@cpso.on.ca.

For transcripts, please go to https://www.registrar.utoronto.ca/transcripts/ordering-my-transcript/
You will need to contact the PA Program office once you have your transcript.
