Lest We Forget.

On Remembrance Day, the CICC Foundation pauses to offer our sincere and profound gratitude to all Canadian veterans and active service members. We remember the selfless sacrifices made—and the immeasurable courage shown—to protect the freedoms we cherish.

We encourage everyone to observe a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. on November 11th to honour their lasting legacy. Thank you for your service.

At CICC, we understand the profound impact of movement on a child's development. 🧠🤸‍♀️

Our dedicated Occupational Therapists are at the forefront of integrating sensory-rich movement activities into our programs. We know that engaging a child's vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile senses through intentional movement is vital for fostering body awareness, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

Through our specialized approach, CICC helps children build essential foundational skills, enabling them to navigate their world with greater calm and confidence. We believe in empowering every child to reach their full potential, one meaningful movement at a time.

⏳ Why Wait?
Waiting isn’t just silence — it’s a powerful tool to help children communicate more.

Think about learning a new language… You hear, you process, you translate, you think about what to say — and if someone doesn’t wait, you miss your turn. 🗣️

Why waiting matters:
🧠 Gives your child time to understand what’s been said and form a response.
🤝 Shows them that a response is expected. If you always fill the silence, they may not take their turn.
⏱ When to wait: after making a comment, giving a choice, or imitating what they’ve done. Silently count to 5… and let the magic happen.
👀 Wait expectantly and quietly. Lean forward, make eye contact, show you care.
💬 When we give children time, we give them space to grow their voice.

🎉 October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)

This month, we honour and celebrate the incredible contributions of workers with disabilities across Canada. 💪✨

The 2025 theme — “Celebrating Value and Talent” — reminds us that inclusive workplaces empower individuals and strengthen communities.

🌟 Today, we celebrate Jessica Rotolo, one of our inspiring Path Forward program participants. Her journey reflects the power of opportunity, inclusion, and community support.

🤝 Thanks to the collective support of our community, we’re able to continue building programs that create meaningful impact — like our preschool and employment initiatives.

Watching your child use their imagination is a joy—and it's also a powerful act of learning! ✨ This week, we're celebrating pretend play, the simple, fun activity that builds essential skills for life.

At CICC, we know that you are your child’s most important teacher and therapist. Pretend play is your child’s primary tool for practicing language, empathy, and creative problem-solving.

It doesn't require expensive toys, just connection!

➡️ SWIPE to get 4 simple, low-cost ideas for bringing pretend play into your day, straight from our Early Interventionists.

Remember: Every simple interaction—from a "vroom vroom" car sound to a scarf becoming a cape—is a valuable therapeutic moment.

October 19–25 marks Invisible Disability Awareness Week. This is a crucial time to pause and reflect on a simple truth: Not all challenges are visible.✨

At CICC, we support many children and families navigating disabilities and developmental differences—such as sensory challenges, learning differences, or chronic pain—that are not immediately obvious to an observer.

For these families, the struggle often isn't just the condition itself, but the constant need to explain, justify, or face judgment because their challenges are unseen.

By learning to see the unseen, we create a stronger, kinder community for every child.

Today, the team from Centennial Infant and Child Centre (CICC) and the CICC Foundation came together to celebrate the incredible impact of the Ontario Trillium Foundation grant supporting our Hospital-to-Home (H2H) program 💙

This grant helped us research, adapt, and expand our innovative early intervention model to serve families whose infants require care in the NICU.

The H2H program provides families with developmental guidance and emotional support—starting right in the hospital and continuing through their transition home.

We’re deeply grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for helping make this important work possible.

Today, October 6th, is World Cerebral Palsy Day! 🌍💚

The Centennial Infant and Child Centre Foundation is fiercely dedicated to ensuring young children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) get the strongest possible start.

We raise critical funds to support CICC’s in-home Early Intervention and on-site Specialized Preschool programs—empowering children and their families during the crucial early years to build the skills they need to thrive for life.

This is a day for global action—and you don't need to be an expert to be a great ally!

➡️ Here's how you can be an advocate and ally today:

💚 Wear Green (Go Green!): Green is the color of CP awareness. Put it on today to show your solidarity.
🫶 Educate & Share: Take a moment to learn a fact about CP and share it. Education breaks down barriers and stereotypes.
🤗 Advocate for Inclusion: Actively look for ways to ensure your community is more accessible and welcoming to everyone.

Powering Potential Campaign

The most important campaign the Foundation has ever undertaken for the Centre. $10 MILLION is needed to purchase, build or renovate, and furnish a new larger and more accessible site for the Preschool and other programs. Montgomery Sisam Needs Assessment recommended that Centennial requires between 16-000 to 20-000 square feet of physical space to adequately accommodate it's programs. That is more than double the space that we currently occupy. Your contribution to the campaign can help make our dream a reality. To learn more about making a Powering Potential Campaign Pledge or to discuss recognition options for pledges of $75,000+ please contact Debra Bond-Gorr, CFRE.
