Success means we go to sleep at night knowing that our talents and abilities were used in a way that served others. ~~ Marianne Williamson
I know first-hand the importance of getting a proper diagnosis and the right care when dealing with a health issue. In fact, it was my own experience of having to work hard to overcome my own personal health challenges – with the help of caring experts who provided the treatment and advice I needed – that compelled me to open my own brick and mortar massage practice. I see my work as a way of giving back. In my work as a therapist, my main goal is to help people get the support, tools and information they need to live life at their best.
Just over a decade ago, I was diagnosed with primary lymphedema, a condition brought on by a compromised lymphatic system, that resulted in painful swelling in my legs. Today, my health is stable, and bulk of the credit for the significant reduction in my symptoms, belongs to the two health care providers, who not only educated me about lymphedema, but also encouraged me to learn how to manage my symptoms on my own.
I was profoundly impacted by quality of the care and treatment I received upon being diagnosed, and after I started to connect with other people living with lymphedema in my community, I quickly realized that I’d been incredibly lucky to find such great sources of support early on. Recognizing that fact was a big part of the reason I decided to become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. It’s my way of paying it forward by helping other people living with lymphedema, same way my fitter and therapist helped me.
