Though heart health is often framed as a matter of personal discipline, cardiovascular outcomes are shaped just as much by access, education, environment, and time as they are by individual choice.
As communicators, we have to be careful about the stories we tell.
Language that motivates one person can shame another.
Heart health messaging works best when it informs without blaming and supports without oversimplifying.
The heart doesnāt exist in isolation. Neither should the way we talk about it.
