Setting boundaries isn't about keeping people out, it's about inviting them to understand you better. If you feel exhausted from overcomitting, resentful when your needs go unmet, or guilty for saying no, you're not alone. Boundaries aren't rejectjon; they are an act of self-respect. Here's how to set them with confidence:

1. Identify your needs

Your emotions are your best guides. Where do you feel drained? Where do you say "yes" but wish you had said "no"? These are places where boundaries are needed.

2. Communicate clearly

You don't have to apologize for your needs. Be direct, not defensive.

✔️ "I can't take on extra work this week, but I'd love to help another time."
✖️ "I'm so sorry, I have too much going on, I hope that's okay."

4. Follow through

A boundary without action is just a suggestion. If someone keeps crossing the line, reinforce it.

5. Check in with yourself

Boundaries aren't set in stone, they evolve as you do. Ask yourself:
• Does this boundary still serve me?
• Am I enforcing it consistently?
• How do I feel when I uphold it?

6. Practice self-compassion

You are not responsible for how others react to your boundaries. You are responsible for honoring your own needs. Boundaries don't push people away, they create space for healthier, more authentic connections.

Therapy isn't just for crises. It's also for growth, clarity, and understanding the beautiful parts of being human. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down, therapy can help. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, it's an act of courage.
