The “Happy Tummy” Guide🤗
Constipated Baby? 💩 Try the Castor Oil Tummy Massage.
Why Castor Oil?
    •    Castor oil is a natural “penetrative” oil. When massaged onto the skin, it provides gentle warmth and helps stimulate the bowels without the need for harsh internal medicine.
How to do it (Step-by-Step)
1    Warm it up: Rub a few drops of castor oil between your palms.
2    The “I Love You” Stroke: Trace an inverted “L” and “U” on the tummy.
3    Clockwise Circles: Always move in a clockwise direction to follow the natural path of the colon.
4    Bicycle Legs: Gently cycle baby’s legs to help release gas.
Quick Tips & Safety
    •    Patch Test first: Always check a small patch of skin for sensitivity.
    •    Clockwise is Key: Moving counter-clockwise can actually hinder digestion!
    •    Keep it Gentle: Use soft, rhythmic pressure.
Using these techniques on top of seeing one of our Paediatric Naturopathic Doctor and Osteopathic Manual Practitioners can enhance your babies ability to have daily bowel movements👶

The Power of Gentle Cranial Work ✨🧠
When we look at Brachycephaly, we aren’t just looking at the shape of the head—we’re looking at the tension within it.
These photos show the progress of a little one after just three sessions of Paediatric Osteopathy. By using very specific, gentle cranial techniques, we’ve worked to release the structural restrictions that often contribute to a flattening at the back of the head.
How does Cranial Osteopathy help?
Unlike “shaping” or “molding,” cranial work is incredibly light. In treatments we focus on:
• Decompressing the Cranial Base: Releasing tension at the base of the skull to improve head mobility.
• Encouraging Natural Expansion: Helping the delicate plates of the skull move more freely so that as the brain grows, the head can expand more symmetrically.
• Calming the Nervous System: Cranial work is deeply soothing, helping babies move out of “tension mode” and into a state of growth and ease.
In just 16 days (Jan 12 – Jan 28), you can see how the baby’s profile is beginning to shift and soften. It’s a beautiful example of how the body responds when we remove the obstacles to its natural development. 🌿

Is your pumping journey feeling less than optimal?
Many parents experience discomfort, pain, or inefficient milk expression when pumping, and often the culprit is an ill-fitting breast fl**ge! At Footprints Therapy, Suyin Jordan IBCLC specializes in helping you achieve a more comfortable and effective pumping experience.
Why is a proper fl**ge fit so important?
• Comfort: The right size prevents ni**le pain, compression, and damage.
• Efficiency: A good fit allows for optimal milk flow and better emptying of the breast.
• Milk Supply: Effective emptying signals your body to produce more milk, helping to maintain or even increase your supply.
Suyin offers comprehensive fl**ge fitting and pumping assessments to ensure you’re using the correct equipment and techniques. During an assessment, Suyin will:
• Observe your pumping technique
• Evaluate your current fl**ge size
• Suggest alternative fl**ge sizes or types if needed
• Provide personalized tips for maximizing comfort and output
Don’t let pumping challenges add stress to your feeding journey. Reach out to Footprints Therapy today to schedule your fl**ge fitting and pumping assessment with Suyin Jordan IBCLC!❤️👶

🤩 New Equipment Test Drive! 🤸‍♀️
Meet Karen, our amazing Speech Therapist, putting some of our new physical therapy equipment through its paces! 💪
Karen is testing out this fantastic wobble board (also known as a balance board), which is usually a staple for our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy sessions. While it’s great for strengthening ankles and improving balance, it also highlights how we work together across disciplines to understand all the tools that help our clients!
Even our Speech Therapists are getting in on the balancing act! 😉
⚖️Fun Fact: Balance and core stability can sometimes influence things like posture and even the coordination needed for clear speech! It’s all connected!

We are so grateful for one of the most incredible Paediatric Osteopathic Manual Practitioners who joined us at our Toronto clinic this past week. She generously poured into our team and colleagues, helping us expand our clinical knowledge and deepen our skills. As always, she brought the most uplifting energy and her clinical expertise is truly exceptional.

🌀 Birth Spiral: More Than Just a Squeeze
Did you know the intense journey of birth affects your baby’s entire internal architecture, not just their bones?
The “Birth Spiral”—the necessary twisting rotation through the pelvis—subjects your baby to powerful forces that can leave behind subtle strains.
🕸️ Fascia & Fluid Strain
• Fascial Web: The twisting can cause torsion strains in the fascia (the body’s internal connective tissue web). This can lead to persistent tightness, affecting things like a baby’s ability to turn their head equally or interfering with proper feeding mechanics.
• Fluid Flow: The compression can also impact the rhythmic flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) around the brain and spine. Optimal CSF flow is crucial for regulating your baby’s nervous system and overall comfort.
⚖️ How Osteopathy Helps
Pediatric Osteopathy uses extremely light, non-forceful touch to gently encourage the release of these residual fascial and cranial strains left over from the birth spiral.
By restoring ease and mobility, we aim to support:
1. Comfort: Reducing overall fussiness and tension.
2. Feeding: Easing restrictions in the neck and jaw for better latching.
3. Regulation: Promoting a calm, balanced nervous system.
It’s a gentle way to help your baby “unwind” from the intensity of their first big adventure!
Is your baby showing a head preference or struggling to settle? All of our Osteopathic Manual Therapists can help your baby with this process👶
