Shift Collab

Shift Collab Shift Collab is one of Canada’s leading therapy practices offering counselling and mental healthcare.

Founded in 2016 by Megan Rafuse and Jordan Axani, Shift Collab was born out of a desire to modernize the therapy experience by making it more human. This meant making therapy feel simple, actionable, and collaborative while being matched with a therapist who is relatable and truly understands you. In making this experience come to life, we knew we needed to offer more beyond our roster of skilled social works and psychotherapists. As we pivoted, we came to realize that the therapy experience we offer became elevated by the warm greetings and laughter in the waiting room; the fact that we didn’t skimp on cheap coffee and tea; the friendships that would come from our community workshops; and the idea that a place where we explore our deepest wounds could also be a place of joy. We have since evolved, but our appreciation for the foundation we’ve built and beliefs we uphold remain the same. Shift Collab has since become one of Canada's leading group therapy practices, offering exceptional care coast-to-coast by providing individual, couples, family, and youth therapy. We help Canadians build the lives they want — one session at a time. Join our community to stay up date on new events, workshops, services, announcements, and more!

The 75% We’re Not Talking About: A Fireside Chat on Men’s Mental Health and Su***de Prevention. Every day in Canada, 12 lives are lost to su***de, 75% of them men. These are fathers, brothers, friends, and colleagues whose struggles often go unseen, hidden behind stigma, silence, and outdated ideas of masculinity. This World Su***de Prevention Day, Unsinkable invites you to a heartfelt virtual fireside chat on September 10 at 12:00 PM ET on Zoom, featuring Joshua Bell, a national mental health advocate, along with men who’ve faced mental health challenges and a clinical expert from Shift Collab to provide guidance and support.

Together, we’ll reflect on:
💬 Why men are at higher risk
💬 How silence, shame, and isolation affect their well-being
💬 How we, as individuals and communities, can offer understanding, connection, and hope

Let’s break the silence, honor those we’ve lost, and create a space where men feel seen, heard, and supported. Because speaking up can save lives. Join us and be part of this essential conversation.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada—a day to honour the history of Residential Schools and the ongoing impact they have on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Reconciliation is about more than remembering; it’s about acknowledging the past, respecting Indigenous rights, and actively working towards a better future. We can all play a part in this, whether through educating ourselves, reflecting on our actions, or supporting Indigenous communities.

This day is a reminder to listen, learn, and walk this path toward healing together.

Swipe through to see ways to get involved this week and beyond. 🧡

Trauma can pop up when we least expect it. Kaela McCarney, one of our therapists, shares four strategies to help manage those moments:

🔸 Normalize it: Trauma responses are normal reactions to abnormal experiences.

🔸 Ground yourself: Use the 5-4-3-2-1 technique to stay present and remind yourself that you’re safe.

🔸 Distract your mind: Find a distraction, like calling a friend or doing a quick chore.

🔸 Reach out: Don’t face it alone—connect with a therapist like Kaela or someone you trust.

Kaela is here to support you through trauma, substance use, ADHD, and more. Ready to take the next step? Book a session today.
