When you’re replaying a conversation in your head and dissecting every single thing you said - it’s a sign that your body and voice are needing safety.

For sensitive people pleasers, this stress can also manifest as physical pain - tension in the jaw or shoulders, headaches, knots in your stomach.

We live in a world where so many feel unsafe just being who they are.

You are safe to state your needs, to share your ideas, and be yourself. Can you feel safe in your-self first?

Use this song to get out of your head and come home to your body. Give thanks to your body. Give yourself a hug, sing and sway side to side.

Let me know how it goes 🤗💕

Not many pics from 2016 but here’s what I found.

2016 was the year where I truly came in to my voice and my true self.

I was deep in my music therapy studies at Acadia University. A journey that unlocked so much in me. Becoming a music therapist is what sparked my own healing journey. Connecting to and knowing my emotions, listening to my inner voice, and seeing the world and life with a new perspective.

Layers peeled away and I saw what I was not able to see in myself before. I was doing what everyone else told me I ‘should’ do and not listening to the voice inside. But in 2016 this changed. It wasn’t easy and it was magical.

In the spring the long term relationship I was in ended and two months later at a wedding I almost didn’t go to, I reconnected with the man who is now my husband (after his dad pushed us together to dance).

It was the year I began middle parting my hair, I turned 27, had an amazing summer with my besties at the cottage, my mom came to Wolfville to see me off to school, I made amazing friends from class, and I lived with and fell in love with 3 cats (and I’m allergic).

So grateful for 2016. I can’t believe it’s already 10 years ago!! Time flies.

What is your favourite memory from 2016?

I wasn’t always.

There was a long time where I was confident on the outside, but inside I was second guessing every word.

Or I would cry the moment I had to actually verbalize my feelings to someone.

I hid parts of myself in order to keep everyone comfortable.

A lot of us learned to soften our voices. To make what we say sound pretty or nice. Easier to receive.

And along the way, the voice gets lost or it tightens and cracks when we finally try to use it.

✨A grounded voice isn’t about sounding confident. It’s about letting yourself feel your voice.

To stay with yourself as the sound moves through you.

This is the work of coming home to your voice.

If your voice cracks when you go to speak, it doesn’t mean you’re bad a communicator. It usually means your body remembers that staying quiet is safer than actually saying what you think.

Reclaiming your voice means feeling safe again.

Breathe in. Hum in the exhale. Repeat.

💕This is the work I do. You are safe(r) here.

Are you feeling like you ‘should’ set New Year goals, but don’t have any desire to do them? That’s ok - nature is sleeping and resting right now, and you can too. ❄️

(There is also a lot of grief and injustice in our world, so perhaps you need to sit with feeling that first too.)

➡️ If you’re constantly telling yourself “I should….” try this:

See what the opposite of the ‘should’ is. Then sit with feeling if that feels like a truer, more appealing option for you. If it’s giving you that “yes” spark that isn’t from a place of avoidance, but from listening to your inner knowing. And if it is a yes, then do the opposite of the ‘should’!

There is so much to uncover here for each person individually, and this is something we do in the Reclaimed Voice Mentorship. But this is a starting place.

Let me know how it goes! 💖✨

Hiiii I’m back from a bit of a socials break and thought I’d say hello 🤗

I’m Daiva (pronounced dive-ah).

I work with voice - not just how it sounds, but how it feels to use it.

I’m a Reiki healer, Certified Music Therapist, holistic voice coach, and vocal sound healer…but more than that I’m a sensitive soul who knows what it’s like to lose yourself because you’re trying to make everyone around you happy.

For so long I was a people pleaser - taking on everyone’s emotions, saying yes when I meant no, and I was only doing what I thought I ‘should’ be doing.

It was so draining. And overtime, my voice became so small that I couldn’t hear it screaming “I can’t do this anymore!”.

Now, I live differently. I can say no without spiralling and choose myself without apologizing. I’m committed to helping others do the same — through their voice, body, creativity, and inner knowing. Particularly those impacted by gender based oppression.

As a white woman in the wellness space, I’m dedicated to decolonizing my practice and holding space through a decolonial, anti-oppressive lens. That shapes who I am and how I show up here.

💖 If you’re someone who feels drained, responsible for how everyone else is feeling, or disconnected from your voice — you’re in the right place!

➡️ If you want to start reconnecting with YOUR voice, comment VOICE and I’ll send you the link to get started.

Thank you for being here! I appreciate you and I’m so glad you found your way to this space 🤗

The reminder you didn’t know you needed.

But you really do.

Not everyone is saying yes to every invitation.

Some of us are just out here, comfortably saying no and setting boundaries so we have time for what truly nourishes us during a busy time of year.

You will feel so much lighter and actually enjoy the holidays when you start doing the same.

Follow to know exactly how to use your voice and prioritize yourself without guilt 🤗

Who’s Behind HMT

Welcome to Harmonia Music Therapy! I’m Daiva Paskauskas, of HMT. I am a certified Music Therapist (MTA) and Reiki practitioner providing music therapy and Reiki services and voice coaching in Toronto. Currently, I work in long term care, assisted, and retirement living with adults and elderly who have a wide variety of complex needs; those with mental health challenges, dementia, stroke, or varying disabilities. I also work with young children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience working with adults with disabilities, adults with addictions, and children and youth in neuro-rehabilitation and complex continuing care.

What I love about working as a music therapist, is building relationships with clients and exploring ways music can help those who need it. Whether it’s finding joy and empowerment, releasing stress, increasing communication, or feeling a sense of community in a group. I aim to work from a holistic, music-centered, and person-centered lens, while supporting with Reiki when appropriate. I am grateful to work with individuals of all ages and walks of life. I believe my clients have the capacity to achieve positive change and wellness through their unique, creative self expression during music experiences.

I am currently accepting clients for in home sessions, as well as, at individuals or groups in facilities. For more information, visit: https://www.harmoniamusictherapy.com/
