Please take a moment to reflect. Less time than it would take you to eat "nuggets" Don't be stupid and cynical and pretend to be funny - i'm just asking that you consider what animals go thru - and ask yourself why. why do people do this (hold your smart ass response, bc it isn't a bit funny - it's probably some juvenile thing we've heard a1,000 times)
Today is National Farm Animals Day, and it is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how we treat animals who are so often seen as part of a system, rather than as individuals.
It’s also worth pausing on the language we use. Many sanctuaries and advocates choose the term “farmed animals” instead of “farm animals” to emphasize that these animals are not inherently meant to be used for food, but are placed into that role through human systems. Any animal can be “farmed.” This shift in language helps challenge the idea that exploitation is natural or inevitable.
While this day highlights the importance of humane care and rescue, many farmed animals continue to experience suffering as part of standard agricultural practices. True compassion asks us to look beyond “ethical” labels and consider whether these animals, who feel pain, form bonds, and value their lives, should be used for food at all.
Rescue is vital, and so is prevention. Choosing plant-based options is one powerful way to reduce demand and create a kinder future for animals.
Today, and every day, we can honour farmed animals not just by caring for those we save, but by rethinking how we coexist with them.
