Winter can be rough but your skin doesn't have to be
Winter does a number on skin, from head to toe. But it's possible to resist letting the dry winter air wring every drop of moisture from your skin. As the temperature drops in the winter ,fewer water vapors circulate in the air. Then we crank up the furnace to warm our homes, further depleting available moisture.
How to keep skin soft in winter
It's too bad that moisturizing the skin isn't as easy as watering a plant. If you could fix dry skin just by pouring on water, we'would all spend more time in the shower and less time searching for a skin moist, the skin needs more than water . Here are some ways to combat dry skin that are effective if practiced consistently :
●use humidifier in the winter. Set it around %60 , a level that should be sufficient to replenish the top layer of the epidermis .
●Limit yourself to one 5-10 minute bath or shower daily. If you bath more than that ,you may strip away much of the skin's oily layers and cause it to lose moisture .
●Minimize your use of soap ; if necessary , choose moisturizing preparation .
●Apply moisturizer immediately after bathing or after washing your hands . This helps plug the spaces between your skin cells and seal in moisture while your skin is still damp .
●Never ever scratch . Most of the time ,a moisturizer can control the itch . You can also use a cold pack or compress to relieve itchy spots .
●Use fragrance -free laundry detergents and avoid fabric softeners .
●Avoid wearing wool and other fabrics that can irritate the skin .
●Drink water , A little warm water with lemon can be very refreshing and hydrating at the same time .
●Overnight Moisturize .
●Exfolite, we often forget to help the skin slough off dead cells in the winter , yet moisture can't get in if the dead cells are too plentiful .
●Use Masks .
Homemade masks can provide needed moisture in the winter months . Moisturizing ingredients like honey , avocado , yogurt , olive and jojoba oils , almond oil , bananas , and aloe . Mix what you like together to create a cream or paste , and leave on skin for 10-30 minutes for lasting hydration .
