Save this post and work through each of these 9๏ธโฃ tips one by one, whether you need one week or one month to work on each of these tips, do it at your own pace (without it adding even more stress to your plate)! ๐๏ธ
Combatting burnout is a process and never takes one day, you cannot just turn it on or off like a switch unfortunately. There is no formula that fits all, so take things at your own pace making a small stride each day towards leading a less stressful life! โจ
The only extra tip I have is of course to get adjusted! The power of your nervous system is crucial in helping you face the challenges in your life!

Burnout is something most of us experience at one point or another in our lives, whether we recognize it or not!
I want to bring a bit more awareness to this in hopes that each and every one of you reading and sharing this post will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms and reverse them!
If you think you are experiencing burnout, please contact me or another healthcare provider to seek out some help - this can be as simple as starting an exercise program or new hobby, making small changes in your workday or personal lives or just breathing more deeply!!!

Take home point is that we should all slow down our breathing - we should be inhaling and exhaling for 5.5 seconds with each breath! Give that a try, itโs much harder than you may think! ๐ซ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฎโ๐จ

Ergonomics for a standing desk 101! ๐
With all the talk about having better posture while using a stand-up desk, here is what to do if you are standing for most part of your work day!
1) whether you are sitting or standing, the arms should be at 90 degrees! ๐ช๐ผ
2) keep the wrists in a neutral position, do you overextend them or flex them too much. A mouse pad with a gel wrist support is an even better idea! โ๏ธ
3) your gaze should be directly in front of you, so make sure you set your monitor at eye level, you may have to perch it up on a few books if needed! ๐
4) tilt your screen to help with the screen glare and keep it approximately 20-28 inches from your eyes, that will avoid your eyes straining excessively as you look at the screen! ๐
5) do not lock your knees as you are standing, keep them relaxed with a small micro-bend in them, as to avoid the leg muscles from overworking! ๐ฆต
6) shift your weight from leg to leg, do a little wiggle and shimmy, or even a little dance to keep the weight distributed evenly through the body! ๐บ
7) no heels! Keeping your shoes off, or wearing a shoe/slipper with a firm and flat sole will go a long way in keeping you comfortable standing for longer periods of time! ๐ฆถ
If you are just starting off with a standing desk, do not try to stand for 8 hours right off the bat! It is totally okay to sit through the day, as my patients always hear me say, Motion Is Lotion! The more you move, the better your body will feel! ๐๐ป

Take the time today (and every day) to do one thing that makes YOU happy! In our busy lives we are always go-go-go, and we do not take the time to slow down and smell the roses ๐น!
This is my reminder to you that you are important, your mental health is important and you should nurture your body, mind and spirit in whatever way you see fit!

SAD - Also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder or the Winter Blues, or the February Blahs is something much more common than we may think!
Follow these tips as well as seek some type of self-care, get that massage ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ, go do a workout ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ, go for a run ๐ outside ๐ณ, or come see your friendly chiropractor ๐โโ๏ธ!
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, an estimated 2 to 10% of Canadians are affected. It is more likely to occur in women and is often seen in young adults.
To varying degrees, all of us will be affected by the lack of light that results from fewer daylight hours! A lack of enthusiasm or energy, increased fatigue, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, an excessive need for sleep and changes in appetite can be telltale signs. An estimated 18% of Canadians are affected by the lack of sunlight in the winter!

Can you believe that this is the SAME foot ๐ฆถ in 2 different x-rays!!! ๐ฉป
On the right, the foot is in a normal position without shoes โ - on the left, the foot is in a shoe ๐ that is WAY too tight โ! Check out how squished the toes are in a toe box that is way too small for that foot!
Shoe choices ๐ฉด๐ฅฟ๐ ๐ก๐ข๐๐๐ฅพ are vast and sometimes it can be difficult to know what shoe is right for your feet (vs. the way they look)!
Prolonged time โณspent in a shoe that does not fit quite right can lead to many problems down the line, some worse than others, ranging from a flattening of the feet, plantar fasciitis, bunions, Mortonโs neuroma & more ๐!
The narrower the toe box, the less blood ๐ฉธ flow to the foot, the more contorted ๐ฅจ the foot will be in an abnormal position leading to poor biomechanics and decreased ability to stabilize the foot in most activities ๐! Potential injury central!!!
A wider toe box (which can also accommodate an orthotic) is ideal because it will allow normal function of all the joints of the ankle and foot proving the proper mobility, flexibility and stability! ๐

The more neck flexion that the spine is in, the more pressure on the joints, discs and nerves that is created!
