Rebuilding confidence after setbacks isn’t easy, but it’s possible.

Meet Gloria McEyeson, a registered social worker and recent graduate of York University’s Master of Social Work program, with over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families.

Her journey includes navigating a learning disability and past experiences of intimate partner violence. These experiences have shaped her, but do not define her.

With support from CCRW, she rebuilt her confidence, strengthened her interview skills, and learned to advocate for the support she needs.

Now, she’s moving forward with clarity and purpose, ready to continue her work supporting others.

Neurodivergent employees are often misunderstood, not because of ability, but because of assumptions.

With small, thoughtful accommodations, they can thrive and bring valuable skills, creativity, and perspective to the workplace.

Rethinking how we define support can open the door to more inclusive and effective workplaces.

Building more inclusive workplaces doesn’t happen all at once, it happens through small, intentional choices we make every day.

Start here:
• Check your biases
• Listen to lived experiences
• Support marginalized voices
• Reflect on discomfort
• Have honest conversations
• Own mistakes and keep learning

Building inclusive workplaces starts with what we do every day.

Did you know?

Neuronormativity is a form of ableism that treats neurotypical experiences as the standard—often without people even realizing it.

This lack of awareness can impact hiring, workplace support, and advancement opportunities for neurodivergent employees.

Creating truly inclusive workplaces starts with understanding neurodiversity and challenging these assumptions.
