WIDEN (Workshops for Inter-Discipline Exchange & Novelty) aims to reveal shared projects and symbiotic insights. Each WIDEN meeting consists of three or four 10- to 15-minute presentations of research on a common theme by people working in different disciplines, followed by a half-hour of discussion. Prompting conversations among musicians and medical students, political scientists and architects, historians and zoologists, philosophers and physicists, WIDEN breaks down disciplinary walls and creates community even as it celebrates ingenuity. The series was founded by Jessica Duffin Wolfe in 2009 at the University of Toronto, and now has growing communities at Massey College, York, UTSC, and Ryerson.

WIDEN is seeking presenters for its Winter 2012 season!

We're looking for graduate students from U of T (and beyond) interested in sharing their intellectual insights and perspectives in a lively, inclusive interdisciplinary forum.

Each workshop consists of three short, casual talks—15 minutes maximum—on a common theme. We're open to all topics and approaches: the aim is to put your ideas into cross-disciplinary conversations. If you're interested in being a WIDEN presenter, write to us!
