I haven't been on here very much lately, mostly soaking up the sun, fun, and love during our final months as a family of 3 ๐Ÿฅฐ.

I will be going on MATERNITY LEAVE as of August 16th, and am only seeing current/returning patients until then. My availability is very limited over the next three weeks - so if you are hoping to get clear on your health goals & plan before I'm off, book asap!

I will be happy to see new & returning patients in March 2025! Appointments will be by video/phone to start and in person availability eventually.

Wishing you a Happy New Year, filled with love, joy & resilient health.

2023 started with an amazing adventure for our little family, and was followed by a difficult but rewarding first half of the year with pushing myself out of my comfort zone professionally. Our year ended with a big slow down, somewhat forced but also intentional so we could focus on our health and maintain relatively smooth sailing into 2024.

I'm super excited to see & share what adventures this new year brings for our little family and professionally....

BUT instead of focusing on the big & exciting --- my intention for 2023 is to stay focused and consistent with simple, nourishing actions that are most supportive of my goals and happiness.

Managing anxiety isn't just about "calming down", "just breath"-ing, or "thinking happy thoughts"

It's about compassion, understanding, and support.

If you live with anxiety, it can be helpful to recognize your triggers & symptoms and ALSO empower yourself to communicate your needs with others.

Many people have no idea what to say when you're feeling anxious, and sometimes you might not even be sure what you need (ESPECIALLY when you're IN IT).

So send this to people who want to help & support you when you're feeling anxious and overwhelmed, and let them know more specifically what you might need in those difficult times.

Here's an incomplete list of things you might find helpful to hear from others:

โ€œAre you OK?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m here for you with whatever you need right now.โ€

โ€œWhat can I do to help?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry you are struggling with this.โ€

โ€œIt sounds like youโ€™re having a hard time. Iโ€™m here if you want to talk, or Iโ€™ll just sit with you.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s OK to feel this way.โ€

โ€œJust donโ€™t give up.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s seems really tough.โ€

โ€œWhat do you need?โ€

"Tell me about how you're feeling"

"What does anxiety feel like for you?"

"It must be really hard to live with anxiety"

5 SIMPLE things you can do NOW to support your brain health.

1. Leave your phone outside your bedroom while you're sleeping

2. Choose cleaning products with less toxic chemicals

3. Use HEPA Air purifiers in your home/workspace

4. Eat lots of healthy fats! (Avocado, eggs, chia, flax, fish, nuts & seeds)

5. GO OUTSIDE. Absorb as much sun and fresh air as possible, everyday.

>>> I KNOW YOU KNOW that
"tomorrow" quickly becomes "next week"
which then becomes "next month"
and before you know it it's "next year".

SO...
>>> Start today - take the 20 minutes to DO THE THING YOU KNOW YOU NEED, And then do it again tomorrow.

>>> Choose THIS week to start your journey (yes, you can start any day of the week)

>>> FYI - Next month *probably won't* be less chaotic.

>>> You wont have the time until you MAKE the time (you can do it!)

No more excuses, or putting it off until it "feels right". (that time probably won't come until it's too late)

What do burnout and anxiety have in common?

I've broken down what burnout looks like in the context of the Tranquil Minds Anxiety Types below. Do any (or all) of these resonate with you?

Decision-type - You have decision-fatigue and are constantly relying on or requesting others make decisions for you. eg. you can't decide what's for dinner tonight, nevermind put in the effort to meal plan for next week or make plans to do, well, anything at all.

Fatigue-type - your days are demanding, it's go-go-go, all day-every day. Maybe you fit in some aspects of self care but they are more habit than intuitive nourishment. You're f*cking exhausted but can't sleep or sit still for long. OR maybe you're sleeping enough but still never feel rested.

Defensive-type - when the idea of "one more thing" makes your heart beat faster. and when that "one more thing" undoubtedly happens, you push through but sacrifice more of *you* to keep moving.

As a mom, entrepreneur, and *so much more*, the constant burnout is what triggered my anxiety. But there are ways to build you up and naturally fix your burnout AND anxiety, without causing you to feel more overwhelmed.

You CAN choose a path that is more simple, less overwhelming, and still gets you from A to B.

You CAN say NO to the things that don't align with your needs and desires.

The month of fresh starts, and nervous hearts.

The slowing of exciting summer vibes, and feel of cozy autumn approaching.

A return to routine & schedules, with an opportunity to reflect & move on.

Perfectionism can be sneaky and overwhelming, and is more common than you probably think.

The key is to open the door to vulnerability, and simply give less f*cks.

So what does perfectionism look like when you have (or maybe *think you don't* have) Anxiety?

๐Ÿคฏ Decision-type - you take a long time and struggle to make decisions, waiting for allll of the information first. You worry A LOT about making the "wrong" decision. Analysis paralysis anyone?

๐Ÿ˜ด Fatigue-type - you spend a lot of time perfecting details, overthinking, and running on cortisol, and then forget to nourish yourself and rest, so you find yourself exhausted in the evenings or whenever you have 'time off'. Or maybe you give up on projects because the effort required to do it perfectly is simply too much.

๐Ÿ˜  Defensive-type - when you make a mistake (even teeny tiny ones) you're hard on yourself, and feel the need to explain yourself to others. You have a hard time being vulnerable and putting yourself out there, receiving feedback, and/or trying new things.

Perfectionistic anxiety is a constant battle for some. But you can overcome it when you recognize your patterns and commit to growth, self acceptance, and self compassion.
