Pharmacy Awareness Month is fast approaching and SOAPE is collaborating with CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) to set up a booth at this teaching hospital (1001 Queen St. W). Students will work alongside other students and with the pharmacists on site to promote our profession to patients and healthcare providers.

We want patients and other health care professionals to understand what pharmacists can do for them. This is also a great opportunity for you to network with hospital pharmacists and healthcare providers!

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the following Google form by Wed, Feb 20th, 2019: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1gJTGxeY0_QnSYNgU3hQhXX9Yqv6YlBc9l-xa4joyWZk/viewform?fbclid=IwAR02WLAxWjEVqNOaTARAaeP0SDo9e5CmVD-yt7IgZxCevMz28lXJTFxfD0c&edit_requested=true

A message from SOAPE's Research Director:

I am studying student experience with their current scope of practice, and where they want to see their scope expanded in the future.

The survey is predominately multiple choice and will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Your opinions and thoughts are valued and appreciated and can be left in the final question of the survey. As a thank you for completing it, if you fill the contact information at the beginning, you will be entered to win a gift card to the coffee place of your choice (i.e. Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Second Cup)! I will be drawing one gift card per class.

Pharmacists have been administering the flu shot in Ontario since 2012. To continue demonstrating the benefit of the pharmacist's expanded scope, SOAPE has once again teamed up with Snowdon Pharmacy located at 264 Bloor St W. to help them out this flu season.

Your role as a Flu Shot Clinic volunteer would include administering the flu shot (2T0s, 1T9s) entering patient profile information into the computer, billing the flu shot, and acting as a patient guide (receiving patients, ensuring they understand the flu shot process and that they remain in the pharmacy for 15 minutes after their flu shot). But be open to helping with other tasks as well! Community pharmacy experience is an asset but not a requirement.

We are looking for 18 volunteers to fill in time slots from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturdays (10th, 17th, and 24th) this November. Please see the attached google doc (and the excel sheet within). TWO volunteers are allowed per timeslot so signup with a friend!
