It starts with the small things. The fridge that keeps ending up empty. The medication that got missed. The conversation where your parent seemed a little more unsure than usual.

At some point, you stop explaining it away and start wondering: is this more than I can handle on my own?

That question is not a failure. It is clarity.

A guide for families navigating this is linked below.

We’ll be at the BIAYR Annual Mixer 2026 on May 21 in Vaughan.
The evening brings together caregivers, advocates, professionals, and organizations working to strengthen support within the brain injury community.

As part of the silent auction, Arcadia Home Care will also be donating Four Lunches for BIST’s Birdies for Brain Injury Golf Tournament.

We’re looking forward to listening, learning, and connecting alongside others who care deeply about community support.

Something worth sharing from this week.

On April 14, Arcadia's Melissa Vigar, BSW RSW, joined Laura Bellon of Anchor Rehabilitation Support Services to deliver a brain injury training to the Toronto Police Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT) on behalf of the Brain Injury Society of Toronto.

The training introduced MCIT officers to Acquired Brain Injury: what it is, how it shows up, and why someone in crisis may not be acting the way you'd expect; not out of defiance, but because of how brain injury affects communication, memory, and behaviour under pressure.

Proud of this partnership and the important work being done across Toronto's care and justice communities.
