Did you know that I offer a discounted rate for massage?
I have special rates for ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, FULL-TIME YOGA TEACHERS, FULL-TIME HOLISTIC PRACTITIONERS, STUDENTS, ODSP RECIPIENTS, SENIORS ON FIXED INCOME and the UNEMPLOYED.
(Special rates not applicable for home visits.)

So if you belong to this group and are in need of a massage but are not sure if you can afford one, message me for my special rates.

WHAT IS THAI MASSAGE?

Come experience this ancient bodywork practice that combines acupressure, compression, energy meridian work and yoga-like stretching. It is based on a health system involving the elements. It balances energy lines and increases the flow of blood and lymph by removing blockages in the tissues of the body.

The closest thing westerners might be familiar with would be to describe this as an Ayurvedic version of Shiatsu that encourages great relaxation and rejuvenation. But while the Thai tradition was influenced by the healing traditions of other cultures, it exists in its own right.

Thai massage uses steamed herbal compresses! Treat your muscles to the warming, healing balm of this ancient technique. The hot herbal bundles are applied to the clothed body and help release toxins, relieve muscle tension and joint pain and increase circulation in the body. The tantalizing aroma stimulates the senses to reduce mental fatigue and stress and clears the respiratory system. Those suffering from Fibromyalgia have reported great relief with this therapy.

There are many parallels between Thai Massage techniques and yoga poses. This is why practitioners will say, tongue firmly in cheek, that if you're too lazy to do yoga, get a Thai Massage. I'll do all the work for you!

THERAPEUTIC SOUND
If the idea resonates with you, I may augment the physical experience of your massage with short periods of soundwork at the beginning and end or your session. As a musician, I have studied the use of sound and music in healing and soul shifting. Theses are shamanic techniques that have been utilized by various cultures for centuries.

If you’re in need of grounding, you may enjoy the slow, soft beat of a large frame drum over your body, entraining your mind with a meditative heartbeat rhythm. This is also an invitation to come out of your busy head and into a body-focussed state by focussing on feeling the vibrations. You may enjoy wrapping up a session with the pure, cleansing vibration of a singing bowl being moved through your body from feet to the top of your head. Absorbing the deep vibrations of a didgeridoo can be a profound experience that moves energy in an intense and enjoyable way.

Whether you wish to set an intention with these experiences or simply enjoy their relaxing qualities, soundwork can be profound. Or if all this sounds “woo-woo” to you, stick with a delicious massage without these bells and whistles!
