I have been going here for about a year on and off but very consistently for the past 3 weeks due to intense upper back pain. After trying all different kinds of remedies, I finally came back to Yorkville Chiropractic and within just 3 short weeks, the back pain I have been struggling with for what feels like forever is finally disappearing. I couldn't be happier and more relieved - thank you so much, Dr. Homer!
I started seeing Dr. Homer in January of 2019 for DDD between my L5 and S1. I could barely walk and had gained a significant amount of weight due to my severely decresed mobility. My sleep was also affected and my quality of life was at its lowest. From my first session, I experienced pain relief and continued to consistently improve as the weeks and months went by. I'm now virtually pain free and because I'm able to be active again, the extra weight I was carrying is disappearing. I continue to see Dr. Homer twice a week for maintenance. His staff is fantastic and the clinic is a very comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Homer also helped with my foot pain and set me up with some great orthotics to help me stay active! Thanks to him, I have my life back.
Dr. Homer is a life saver! I had severe back pain and he has helped me immensely. I was treated within a day of reaching out to the clinic, which was amazing. I would always recommend anyone going to see Dr. Homer and Satu at the Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre!! Thank you so much for all your help!

Neck pain associated with smartphone overuse: cross-sectional report of a cohort study among office workers

Chiropractors are specifically trained to treat "Text Neck". In fact, during this pandemic, I'm treating 40-50% more patients with Text Neck and posture pains due to poor ergonomics at work.

Conclusions: "Smartphone overuse in office workers significantly increases the chance of neck pain by 6 times. Hence SO has been associated with, not only somatic complaints, but also psychological distress such as anxiety, stress, and depression. This may necessitate adherence to neck-school, when smartphone use is associated with neck pain.

Conclusions: Degenerated discs exhibit greater reconstruction after low tension traction. It is clear that the intervertebral disc mechanical microenvironment depends to a greater extent on low-tension traction than high-tension traction.

Low tension traction is what we do in our office with the COX technique. We are the ONLY office in Toronto to offer the COX technique on a COX table AND we have the first table in Canada to have the pressure sensors.

Cox technique is an effective, gentle and rhythmical method of stretching and activating the spine in order to increase range of motion and decrease pain. So effective, the goal is 50% improvement in 4 weeks. Perfect for all ages!

No cracking required!!!!...although we do that too :)

10/27/2020

Research demonstrated that a safe, gentle type of manual manipulation, Cox® Technic, decreased intradiscal pressures in the cervical spine. (3) In the clinical comparison study of Cox® flexion distraction only to exercise alone for neck pain to the combination of the two that combining the two was beneficial. (4) Cox® Technic flexion distraction for neck pain relief relieved pain in a mean of 13.2 visits in a study of cervical spine radiculopathy patients. (5)

therealitycheck.com As we age our risk of having a fall increases. In this video we take a closer look at a study that investigated whether Chiropractic care could help brain function which may prevent falls in older adults.

08/24/2020

Mobility, balance, strength, pain, stiffness, and coordination are the variables that are most important with respect to preventing injuries and falls---at any age.

All of these require proper segmental motion; proper segmental motion is the linchpin.

There is considerable evidence that sensory ability declines with age.

Chiropractic adjustments restores segmental motion which results in proper sensorimotor and neuromuscular function. No other profession in the world specializes in detecting and correcting areas of reduced segmental motion (VSC).

Ginger adds zest to food and to pain relieving efforts! Pain-reducing effects of ginger come from its anti-oxidant capability and its ability to inhibit prostaglandins and pain-related nociceptor activity. Ginger’s pain-lowering effect holds promise and is safe by all the latest studies. Ginger taken orally has been safely done in many studies. One study shared that osteoarthritis patients’ pain reduced significantly as did their disability as well. Such a simple herb, ginger, holds such zesty promise!
