Lead in your drinking water can have negative health effects on you and your family. Take action. Your health is worth it!
Test your water for lead: Get your tap water tested if you live in an older home or neighbourhood and you think you may have lead in the plumbing. Even low levels can harm your health, especially for kids.
Replace lead pipes: Contact your water utility to confirm you have a lead service line, and for advice. They may have programs where you can replace your part of the service line at the same time that the main service lines are replaced, for a reduced cost.
Reduce exposure: Run the tap until the water becomes cold before drinking or food preparation, clean aerators monthly, and consider using a certified water filter.
Renters: If you are renting in an older home or neighbourhood and suspect you may have traces of lead in your water, speak to your landlord about testing your pipes.
