We recently had a heartwarming moment here at our clinic. Following the successful completion of bilateral total knee replacement surgeries, a grateful patient, Mr. Ngai Man Law, presented Dr. Wong with a beautiful and deeply meaningful gift: a beautifully framed Chinese calligraphy.
This elegant artwork is not just a decorative piece; in Chinese culture, calligraphy is a cherished art form that embodies history, personal expression, and profound respect. Often seen as a reflection of one's character and artistic sensibility, gifting calligraphy is a sincere gesture of appreciation and high regard.
The intricate strokes and thoughtful composition of the calligraphy speak volumes of the patient's gratitude for Dr. Wong's expertise and care throughout their journey. Bilateral total knee replacements can significantly improve a patient's quality of life, restoring mobility and alleviating pain. This generous gift symbolizes the patient's joy and thankfulness for the successful outcome achieved under Dr. Wong's guidance.
We are deeply honoured, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Law and his wife Elaine Chu for this thoughtful gift.

Celebrating a Milestone: TRAC’s First Anniversary and the Success of Weekend Joint Replacements
As we mark the first anniversary of the Toronto Regional Arthroplasty Collaborative (TRAC), it’s a moment to reflect on the remarkable achievements made possible through the collaboration of Michael Garron Hospital and Sunnybrook Hospitals’ surgeons at the Holland Centre. This innovative initiative has successfully completed an additional 1,120 total joint replacements, offering patients new hope and improved quality of life.
A Vision for Improved Care
The journey began with a shared vision to enhance patient care and reduce wait times for hip and knee surgeries. The collaboration leveraged the Holland Centre’s capacity to operate on weekends, allowing for a significant increase in the number of patients receiving timely surgeries.
The Power of Partnership
The strategic alliance between Michael Garron Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre was formalized with the goal of creating a corridor of care for referral and repatriation for highly specialized services. This partnership has been instrumental in optimizing resources, sharing best practices, and ultimately, providing high-quality care to patients.
A Year of Impact
In just one year, TRAC has made a profound impact:
• 1,120 additional joint replacements were completed, significantly reducing the backlog of surgeries.
• The initiative has reduced the Toronto Region hip and knee surgical backlog by 25% .
• Patients have benefited from faster access to high-quality surgical and post-operative care.
• Last year, 100% of knee arthroplasty cases and 83% of hip replacement cases at Michael Garron were completed within the provincial wait time target.

Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to the continued success and expansion of TRAC. The dedication of the healthcare professionals involved and the support of the community have been pivotal in this achievement. Here’s to many more years of transforming lives through collaborative healthcare innovation!
