Because protein matters — especially after 40.

One cup gives you 24–28g of high-quality protein.

It’s rich in leucine; the amino acid that helps protect muscle.

And muscle isn’t about aesthetics.

It’s about:
• Stable blood sugar
• Better metabolism
• Hormone resilience

At Higher Health, we review InBody scans daily.

The pattern we see most?

Women eating “healthy”… but not enough protein to protect their lean mass.

Cottage cheese is just one easy option.
The real goal?
Adequate protein. Consistently.

Comment PROTEIN if you want to know how much you actually need.

Your performance didn't drop. It May be Low Iron

You're doing everything right. Showing up. Putting in the work. Following the plan.

But something's off.

Your legs feel heavy. Recovery takes longer.

Your heart rate is higher at the same pace. That top gear? Gone.
So you train harder. Push more. And it gets worse.

Here's what no one told you.

The harder you train, the more iron your body burns through.

Distance running. Heavy sweating. High volume.

It all drains your stored iron. It's called ferritin.

When it drops too low, your blood can't carry enough oxygen to your muscles.

Doesn't matter how fit you are. Your engine can't run without fuel.
And the frustrating part? Your blood work might say "normal." But normal doesn't mean optimal.

And for athletes, that gap matters.

You don't need a new program. You might need one blood test.

02/26/2026

Your iron is "normal"...so why are you still exhausted?

Your labs came back normal. Your iron was fine.
So why do you still feel this way?

There are two ways to measure iron, and most standard bloodwork only checks one.

Serum iron tells you what's circulating right now. Ferritin tells you what's in storage.

And you can have completely normal serum iron with dangerously low ferritin.
The symptoms? Fatigue. Brain fog. Hair shedding. Waking up depleted no matter how much you sleep.

"In range" doesn't always mean optimal for you.

If something still feels off, you're not imagining it. 💙

Follow for more of these conversations.

Told You’re Fine… But You’re Not?

Yes — a vitamin.

Niacin (vitamin B3) was once used in cholesterol care before statins became common. Research showed it could raise HDL and lower triglycerides.

But cholesterol isn’t just one number.

Context matters.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about what your cholesterol results really mean, we’re happy to help you understand the bigger picture.

3 Signs Of Low Iron in Women⚠️

You might be low on iron, even if your labs look normal.

Iron is what carries oxygen to every cell in your body...your brain, muscles, hormones, and mood all depend on it.

When levels drop (especially ferritin, your iron storage), your energy plummets.

Here are 3 signs it might be time to look deeper ⬇️

1️⃣ You’re tired every day, even after a full night’s sleep.
2️⃣ You’ve tried iron pills, but they’re not helping, or they upset your stomach.
3️⃣ You’re noticing hair loss, cold hands and feet, or foggy thinking that just won’t go away.

Iron infusions can help rebuild your iron stores faster and more comfortably and once restored, the benefits typically last 3–6 months (sometimes longer).

You don’t have to keep pushing through exhaustion.

🚨 The GLP-1 Secret No One Talks About

Ozempic. Wegovy. Mounjaro.
They’re everywhere — promising quick, effortless weight loss.

But here’s what almost no one is asking:
👉 What exactly are you losing when the number on the scale drops so fast?

For many, it’s not just fat — it’s muscle, the very tissue that keeps your metabolism strong, supports energy, and protects long-term health.

Losing muscle means slower metabolism, less strength, and higher risk of weight regain once the shots stop.

At Higher Health, we’re helping patients track what they’re really losing — and rebuilding what matters most.

"Have you noticed stronger cravings since the clocks changed?"

You’re not imagining it.

When our internal clock (circadian rhythm) gets thrown off, it affects hormones that regulate hunger and energy — especially ghrelin, leptin, and cortisol.

The result?
🍪 More sugar or carb cravings
💤 Mid-afternoon energy dips
🍷 Extra evening snacking or wine

It’s your body’s way of trying to rebalance energy while it adjusts to the new rhythm.

A few small tweaks can really help this week:
🥑 Eat a protein-rich breakfast within an hour of waking
☀️ Get 10–15 minutes of natural light in the morning
🥕 Keep healthy snacks (like nuts or Greek yogurt) on hand
💧 Hydrate — thirst can disguise itself as hunger

Your metabolism will reset, but this is the perfect week to be kind to yourself and keep meals steady and nourishing.

Your immune system doesn't just react to things. 🦠
It prepares.

And November is when that preparation really matters. 🍂

Here's what most people don't realize:
The nutrients you give your body NOW will help your immune system respond faster when you're exposed to something later. ⚡

White blood cells rely on vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, and glutathione to make new immune cells and antibodies.

But with less sunlight, more stress, and dry indoor air... November is when your body needs the most support. ☀️➡️🌧️

Here are 3 simple things that make a real difference right now:

🥗 Eat colorful foods – They're loaded with the nutrients your immune system needs

😴 Protect your sleep – Your immune system does some of its best work overnight

💧 Stay hydrated – It keeps your mucus membranes healthy and protective

And if you want to take it one step further, early November is the perfect time for an immune support IV.

It's a fast, effective way to replenish vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, and glutathione—the same nutrients your body relies on this time of year. 💉✨

I always tell my patients:

"Give your body what it needs before it needs it."

If you want to talk about how to strengthen your immune system this season, book a call.

I'd be happy to see how we can help.
