Each person who enters our studio brings their own unique energy, rhythm, and presence. Together, we create a space that is vibrant, supportive, and deeply mindful.

To honor this shared experience, we follow a few simple practices - our studio etiquette. ✨

🌍 Our community is for every body. Respect for yourself, for others, and for our shared space creates the foundation of love and safety here.

🙋 Even if you preregister, pausing at the desk to check in connects you to our team.

⏰ Arriving at least 10 minutes before class sets the tone for calm and ease. It allows you to settle in, and ground yourself.

🚪 Once the practice begins, the room becomes sacred. Honoring this boundary allows the class to stay grounded and uninterrupted.

📵 Phones and practice don’t mix. Turning yours off or leaving it aside invites deeper rest for your mind and nervous system.

👣 Shoes stop at the door so we can walk barefoot with intention. Together, we keep the space clean and connected to the earth.

🎒 Leave larger items in the change room, and only bring what you need. This creates more space - both physically and energetically - for everyone.

🤫 The practice room is a sanctuary of stillness. Quiet supports everyone’s journey inward.

🛋️ Bolsters & blankets are for non-heated classes, with towels provided for hygiene. Using props with care supports both safety and respect for others.

🌸 We practice in shared air, so heavy fragrances stay outside. This allows all to breathe deeply and freely.

🧘 Aligning your mat with the markers helps create flow and balance in the room. Small acts of alignment keep the group practice harmonious.

⏳ Remaining until the very end honors your body, your teacher, and your community. The closing moments are just as important as the opening ones.

🔄 Return mats, towels, and jars with gratitude. These small gestures of respect keep our community moving smoothly together.

✨ Thank you for holding this space with us. By honoring these guidelines, you help create the most safe, loving, and mindful environment possible.

In yoga, there’s no perfect shape - only your shape.

At The Hummingbird Field, our instructors are here to guide and support, to offer alignment, breath, and presence - but ultimately, the practice belongs to you.

Every pose is an opportunity to listen inward, to discover what balance, strength, and stillness feel like in your own body.

Tree pose reminds us that growth happens when we root down and rise up, each in our own unique way.

Honor where you are today, and trust that your practice will always meet you there. ✨

As we step deeper into the long, hazy, crazy days of summer, we’re inviting you to shift your focus this month: let the heat be the pose, and your breath the practice.

☀️ In high temperatures, your physical asana becomes secondary. Instead, move with intention, take regular sips of water between postures, taste your water before swallowing, notice its texture, how it feels on your teeth, the roof of your mouth.

🩺 Did you know that studies now prove that visualization alone can activate many of yoga’s benefits? So if your body needs to lay down, you can imagine yourself moving through the sequence, while feeling your body inhale and exhale, absorbing the benefits like stress reduction, lower blood pressure, more trust, and deeper emotional connection. Even muscle toning Is possible through visualization.

🧘🏽 We’re guided by the Yoga Sutra’s principle of Sthira Sukham Asanam: a posture (or practice) ought to balance effort with ease. In this case, effort or ease (depending on your personality) could mean resting more, being curious about how your body responds to heat, and surrendering when needed.

💦 Hydration isn’t just about drinking enough water - it’s about replenishing minerals too. Try lemon water, a pinch of sea salt, or electrolytes.

💛 Practicing in the summer isn’t just about staying active - it’s about staying connected to your sangha, your community. Amidst the heat and hurry, your mat becomes a place to recalibrate. A reminder that stillness is always available, even in the most social of seasons.

Your week’s most important “to-do” list (and yes, you can actually finish this one 😉):

✨ Breathe fully - let each inhale clear space, each exhale soften what’s heavy.

✨ Move with presence - feel every step, every stretch.

✨ Nourish - body, mind, and spirit.

✨ Speak gently - especially when talking to yourself.

✨ Rest intentionally - not as an afterthought, but as a priority.

The light you see in the room is the same light within you. This week, let’s tend to it with care. 🌿

See you on the mat.

“When a Negative Yields a Positive

Thinking the news is all bad these days?

The purpose of this editorial is to bring more needed attention to a very recent event that was truly groundbreaking - yet something that, somehow, received very little space in global media.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights has just made a historic declaration: it now officially recognizes the climate emergency as a human rights issue. This is more than legal language—it’s a moral shift. The Court stated that climate change threatens our most essential rights: the right to life, to water, to food, to health, to cultural survival. It’s calling climate breakdown what it truly is—not just an environmental concern, but a human one. A matter of justice and dignity, and one that threatens everything we love.

And yet, this moment passed by with what seemed like barely a whisper….”

Mindfulness isn’t just a practice - it’s a presence.

At the Hummingbird Field, it lives in the quiet moments: the hands slowly working through a puzzle, the silence of turning pages, the soft conversations shared in the Zen Den.

It’s not reserved for the mat - it’s in how we arrive, how we rest, how we connect.

These in-between spaces matter. They remind us that peace isn’t something we chase - it’s something we return to, again and again.

So whether you’re dropping in for a class or simply taking a moment to be still - you’re practicing. And that practice changes everything. 🌿

Your practice does not end when class is done.

The way we leave the space is just as much a part of the practice as the poses we flow through. 🌿

Returning your rentals and props - including mats, towels, balls, blocks, straps - is a small act with big impact.

It’s about care. Respect. Community. 🧘

When we clean up with intention, we create space for others to feel welcome, supported, and seen.

Let’s honor the studio the way we honor our practice: with presence, gratitude, and responsibility. 😌

No matter the season of life you’re in - heartbreak, healing, growth, joy - the yoga mat is always there. Unchanging. Patient. A space to return to yourself.

On the mat, you find more than just movement.

You find stillness in the chaos, strength in the struggle, and grace in the letting go.

It becomes a mirror, a sanctuary, a teacher.

Whether you’re showing up with energy or exhaustion, tears or triumph, the mat welcomes you exactly as you are. 🙏🏼

It’s more than a physical practice - it’s a space for mental clarity, emotional release, and deep connection. 🧘✨

Today’s post was inspired by .6’s 5pm practice.

Summer often invites us outward - into movement, sunlight, and full schedules. But within all that energy, we still need spaces that bring us inward.

Yoga offers that pause. A moment to come back to yourself.

To soften. To breathe. To listen.

Practicing in the summer isn’t just about staying active - it’s about staying connected. Amidst the heat and hurry, your mat becomes a place to recalibrate. A reminder that stillness is always available, even in the busiest seasons.

This week, we invite you to return - to your body, your breath, and the quiet strength that lives within you.

Your space is waiting.

There is something sacred about the quiet moments before class begins.

Arriving at least 10 minutes early gives you space to land - to let go of the day, connect with your breath, and ease into presence. It also allows our teachers and reception to hold space with care and clarity.

By arriving early, you help co-create a grounded, spacious, and respectful environment - for yourself and for everyone around you.

Let’s honor the practice by beginning together, on time, and in presence. 🌿

The hummingbird teaches us something simple, yet profound: to follow what nourishes us. It moves with intention, returning again and again to the flowers that offer sweetness, vitality, and life.

At The Hummingbird Field, our mission is the same — to create a space where you can return to what nourishes you. Where movement meets meaning, breath becomes your teacher, and the essence of who you are is deeply valued.

We believe that through mindful movement, genuine connection, and shared sincerity, we can begin to dissolve the illusion of separation — and remember that we belong, both to ourselves and to each other.

Here, we don’t strive for perfection. We show up with care. We trust the process. We stay curious. And we return, like the hummingbird, to the places that help us feel more alive.

Thank you for being part of this field with us. 🌼💛

Our Yoga Story

MYBW is a heart based, environmentally conscious, community-driven yoga studio. Our practice is safe, inclusive and accessible.

What’s ‘Modo’? Modo is a Japanese word that means ‘A Place for All’. Modo Yoga is a form of hot yoga combining therapeutic sequencing and variations with the foundations of traditional yoga practice in a heated room. The series is a cardiovascular experience strengthening, toning and loosening muscles while helping to calm the mind, reducing stress.

The ‘hot’ in hot yoga allows for deep, safe stretching and promotes detoxification of the skin, blood, and muscles through sweat. Classes are suitable for all levels of ability, even ABSOLUTE beginners with limited flexibility!

MYBW offers mostly hot yoga classes with at 15+ reduced heat Yin, Vinyasa, Mindful Pilates and Stretch & Surrender (restorative) classes to support a balanced practice. We deeply value community and often gather for celebrations, potlucks, knitting night, Tea Talks, Karma fundraising events, and more.
