Did you know?
It is possible to have head lice for years without knowing it, especially if the person does not experience itching. Generally by the time someone identifies head lice, they have had head lice for three to eight weeks!

So always know the symptoms and if you suspect you have lice, go get checked!

Here’s a little Nit Tip!
Remember to check your child’s head on a regular basis, and run a lice comb through the hair once or twice a week when you are made aware of an outbreak in your surroundings. And make sure to be aware of your child’s behaviour and watch for telltale signs!

Where we debunk myths about lice! Today’s myth is that lice shampoos kill lice and their eggs! This is NOT TRUE! Lice shampoos rarely harm bits and most can’t even effectively kill all the lice bugs. The best way to treat head lice is to comb out bugs and nits with a proper lice comb.

Today’s fact about lice is that itching isn’t the only symptom of lice! Other symptoms of head lice may include:
- low grade fever
- swollen glands
- a rash at the nape of the neck
- bags under the eyes
- feeling tired
Head lice are nocturnal, meaning they are more active at night!

It’s back to school season!! 📚🍎
All the kids are finally going back to in person classes! Some of us have tears in our eyes (and some of us are ready for this long needed break 😂). It’s always so exciting seeing our kids learn and grow ❤️and we’re even more excited they get to do that around their peers!

Where we debunk myths about lice! Today’s myth is that boys don’t get lice! This is NOT TRUE! Until boys reach puberty, they are just as likely as girls to get head lice! As boys mature, testosterone gives them some protection as the hormone toughens the scalp, making it harder for the lice to feed.
