📢 Experiencing red eye? Don't ignore it! Visiting an optometrist is crucial to determine the underlying cause.

While many professionals may be knowledgeable in their respective fields, an eye doctor, specifically an optometrist or ophthalmologist, has specialized training and expertise in diagnosing and treating eye conditions. They can accurately identify the cause of red eye and provide appropriate treatment options tailored to your specific needs. Your eyes deserve the best care👀🫶🏻

Getting Ready for Cataract Surgery?

Set yourself up for a smooth experience with these key steps:

1. Visit Your Optometrist: initiating dry eye treatment before surgery can improve post/op results. Your optometrist may also discuss discontinuing contact lens wear prior to your surgical date
2. Arrange transportation: you’ll need a ride home after surgery
3. Comfort is key: wear loose clothing and skip the eye makeup
4. Bring your list of medications and some sunglasses on your surgery date
5. Prepare your space: keep essentials like meds and eye drops nearby for easy access.

Rest assured! Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed surgery worldwide with a high success rate. You’ve got this!

A little prep = a stress-free experience & clearer vision!

Why do we dilate your pupils every year?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Beyond helping us experience the beauties and wonders around us, the eyes also provide a glimpse into our overall health and wellbeing. Here’s what an optometrist has the expertise and equipment to detect simply by taking a closer look at the blood vessels, optic nerve, structures, and function of the eyes during a routine comprehensive eye exam:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ high cholesterol
➡️ blocked arteries
➡️ swollen nerves
➡️ multiple sclerosis
➡️ various cancers
➡️ carotid artery disease
➡️ high blood pressure
➡️ diabetes
➡️ thyroid disease
➡️ kidney disease
➡️ brain tumours
➡️ inflammatory diseases
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having the ability to take a deeper look at your systemic health is what makes your optometrist such a critical member of your overall healthcare team, particularly as you age!
