HONOURING DR. GREG KAWCHUK

Today, we celebrated the life and legacy of one of chiropractic’s greats, Dr. Greg Kawchuk.

Greg was a chiropractor, researcher, mentor, innovator, and most importantly, an incredible human that had an infectious positivity.

He leaves us all with the important task of carrying forward his work and legacy, and in turn, the profession, to continually speak truth to his famous words:

‘There has never been a better time to be a chiropractor.’

Thank you for all your work, mentorship, and kindness, Dr. Kawchuk. Rest easy.

PAUSE

Last week in practice I noticed a real shift, patients had more feelings of overwhelm, significant fatigue and burnout, and a resounding consensus of “I’m so over this”.

I hope you all got some time to pause over the weekend and do something to fill your cup. As we continue in this pandemic, with rolling lockdowns (in Ontario), we need to find the small things that bring us happiness, and do them regularly! Also, check in with your friends, family, parents, small business owners - support each other as you can based on your capacity.

And, if you didn’t get a chance to slow down this weekend, Mother Nature took things into her own hands by piling us with snow and forcing us to pause.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and safe New Year’s Eve!

Take some time to pause and reflect on the year to celebrate the wins and learn from the losses. It’s been a challenging year for most - we’ve been tested, stressed and strained. But, let’s continue to be present, patient and compassionate with one another.

“I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.” Maya Angelou

Cheers to an amazing 2022 (not 2020 too)!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It’s certainly been another tough one this year with continuing levels of uncertainty. However, I truly hope your holiday season sparkles with joy and laughter!

If this year has taught me anything, it’s to enjoy and appreciate the little things, like these little people (my niece and nephew), who bring me joy every day.

To my patients who continue to trust me with their and their family’s health, thank you! You’re the reason why I love what I do every day.

Wishing you and yours a very happy, healthy and safe holiday season and new year!

BIG RESEARCH NEWS!!

As most of you know, I am passionate about pregnancy and postpartum care and supporting parents during this time. However, education and research has historically been lacking in this area of chiropractic care, until now!

I am beyond thrilled to report our “Best-Practice Recommendations for Chiropractic Care for Pregnant and Postpartum Patients: Results of a Consensus Process” has officially been published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT).

I am honoured to be listed as an author amongst this incredible team of researchers and maternal healthcare practitioners. Special shout-out to Dr. Carol Ann Weis who spearheaded this project and continues to change the landscape and awareness of chiropractic care for the pregnant and postpartum patient.

EXPLORING

Travel and exploration makes me feel like a giddy child. It is the thing I do to recharge and fill my soul.

It is also the thing we haven’t been able to do in a very long time. So, I am overjoyed to be able to take some time to explore some new sights and sounds.

With that, I will be out of the clinic until Wednesday, October 6th, but will be back in action on Thursday. Please call or email should you require care before my return.

Wishing you all a happy healthy weekend!

BACK TO SCHOOL

While it’s back to school this week for students, it’s the first time in a long time that I’m not throwing on my “teacher’s hat” and returning. I certainly have all the feels about it, but am excited that and I get the opportunity to speak to the Class of 2025 during their Orientation Week! We will be meeting the first years tomorrow to discuss the role of the .

So, to all the first years, welcome and see you tomorrow! And to all the other CMCC’ers, welcome back! I wish you all a fantastic academic year.
