We’re thrilled to have leading our monthly Prenatal Yoga workshop for the rest of the Summer.

Meet Kundalini Queen, Prenatal yoga teacher, Mama of 4 and doula, Elisha Conover Arthurs… and if you’re expecting, come join her for some Prenatal yoga Thursday nights at the space, 6-6:50pm

My name is Elisha Conover-Arthurs and my path has always gravitated towards exploring a range of embodiment and movement practices. Currently I facilitate Prenatal, Postnatal, Kundalini, Yin and Hatha yoga as well as Wild Womb dance experiences.

I have a platform for Kundalini Yoga called Mystic Seed where I provide online instruction and video recordings, in person classes and workshops. I am also a full spectrum doula, a birthworker and a proud Mother of four.

My work often brings me in contact with a variety of communities. I enjoy serving the Black, Indigeonous and marginalized populations, who, without barriers to access, deeply benefit from these ways and teachings.

I believe yoga saves lives and regular practice polishes diamonds.

Kathryn Beet is a pioneer in the Toronto yoga community. Her approach to creating a space full of light, love, and wisdom extends naturally from her joyful warmth.

Affectionately known as a yoga mama, Kathryn founded Yogaspace in response to the needs of neighbourhood friends and expecting mothers.

Now in its 29th year, Yogaspace continues to offer beauty, connection, and a family energy. Here we find inner peace and community through the practices of yoga.

E-RYT 500, YACEP
Yoga helped me recover after a spinal injury in the 1990s. The profound impact it had on my body, mind, and relationships inspired me to begin teaching in 2000.

In my first decade as a teacher, I lived in Costa Rica, where I served as Director of Wellness at Samasati Retreat Centre. When I returned to Toronto, I developed the yoga program at St. Michael’s Hospital and taught at The Yoga Sanctuary, Core Studio, and Equinox. Eventually, I opened my own studio in Cabbagetown.

After several meaningful years building community there, I made the difficult decision to close the studio in order to care for my father. Following that chapter, I chose to travel and share my teachings internationally. Over the past decade, I’ve led trainings and consulted in Asia, South America, Central America, Europe, and across Canada. My areas of focus include Somatics, Yin, Vinyasa, meditation, yoga philosophy, trauma-informed yoga, and both physical and energetic anatomy.

My forties were shaped by deep personal challenges—including breast cancer and a total hip replacement. Throughout it all, my meditation practice remained a constant source of support. Today, I am back on my mat and profoundly grateful for this second chance.

As a lifelong student, a Clinical Somatic Therapist and an Educator, I’m passionate about weaving together cutting-edge scientific research and timeless spiritual practices to bridge Eastern and Western healing traditions—supporting individuals in finding inner harmony and contributing to a more peaceful world.

She’s been attending to every aspect of the studio one way and another for nine years. There is no aspect of the space and the community that populates it that she doesn’t know like the back of her hand. She’s our Mama, our baby sister and the most gentle of caregivers to all. Our sweet, beautiful, calm, chill-babe.

owns the 7:30 spot on Wednesday nights with her most magnificent, always full to the brim Yin Restore with Sound Bath. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot it will become your Wednesday night melatonin.

If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, please do meet Nikki...

For as long as I can remember, movement has been an important part of my life. I found sanctuary in the yoga tradition at a young age and quickly fell in love. Yoga offered me a place to land and to connect. I have been studying and practicing for 17 years and teaching for 11.

I am always interested in evolving my practice, as it deeply inspires what I teach. From Vinyasa, Hatha and Flowyoga, to Restorative, Meditation, Breathwork and Yin, my offerings are often a slower pace where I encourage deep breathing, rest and relaxation as a form of self care and body/mind connection.

For the last 6 years I have been exploring the restorative benefits of Deep Listening and Sound Meditation (Sound Baths). Through sound, movement and breath I hope to guide others to a place where they may find grounding and nourishment.

I have been with Yogaspace since 2017 and I’ve loved watching the community change and grow together. You can find me on Wednesdays at 7:30pm for Yin/Restore with Soundbath and on Thursdays at 12pm for Flowyoga.

Few people know that the creation of Yogaspace was co-inspired by both Kathryn and Bibi in the early 90’s. They would hang out at the Trinity Bellwoods playground watching over their children as they dreamed and schemed after having completed yoga teacher training together. When Kathryn went for it, Bibi was right there cheering her on. After all Bibi had already founded a successful yoga studio in the 1970’s at King and Bay, so she had some experience— Spirit of Movement... a Kripalu studio— with the infamous Ken Scott, (from the Kripalu Centre) as its main teacher.

Back in the day, Bibi was a student of Amrit Desai and though she never had any intention of teaching, Kathryn had other idea’s. Within a year of the studio opening, Bibi was, as she is to this day, packing the house. Now in her 70’s and still packing the room, Bibi maintains a large and loyal following. Her classes are unlike any other yoga class you’ll find in Toronto. If you haven’t already, please meet Bibi.

ERYT~500 YACEP

My name is Bibi Rahim-Hahn. I am a certified Flowyoga and ERYT YACEP instructor. I have experienced many teachers and styles of yoga ~ Amrit Desai, Don Stapleton, Eric Schiffman and Bryan Kest, Kripalu and Vinyasa ~ to name a few. I lead Flowyoga classes and the Flowyoga Teacher Training at Yogaspace.

I describe Flowyoga as a well balanced sequence of postures to systematically address every area of the body for exploration. It’s not about achievement and there are no extreme poses. It’s open to all levels, all ages and it honours injuries and individual bodies, with modifications.

I have spent my entire teaching career with Yogaspace, (almost 30 years), and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge. Most of my knowledge is acquired through reading, personal experiences and meditation.

My personal practices include yoga, meditation, relaxation, reading, writing and cooking. I walk daily ~ rain or shine, and I enjoy finding ‘not too challenging’ online aerobic workouts and joining in daily. I like to eat, sip red wine, cook and entertain my universe.

She’s been with Yogaspace since the original studio on Bellwoods and it’s the only place she’s ever taught public classes. There’s no doubt she’s got a lot to poetically share about how to get in and out of a pose but when it comes to listening, there’s nobody quite like her. Perhaps that’s why her students show up thirty minutes before her classes… Or maybe it’s because they know she gives the best welcome hugs and “how’s everything” back scratches.

Nurturer of nurturers, caregivers of caregivers, knocker on walls to make a point — our in-house biggest of sisters and bestest of friends to all, please give some love to our forever …

A graduate of one of the first Yogaspace Teacher Training Programs over twenty years ago, Fiona has been teaching privately and publicly ever since. Her uplifting, soothing and inspiring classes are highlighted by her fun, caring and deeply nurturing manner. While Fiona creates a space where new students feel safe and capable, she is also a teachers teacher who demonstrates exceptional skill at poetically communicating the essential nuances of the practice. It is said that teaching Yoga is an art form. A valued faculty member of the Yogaspace 200 hour Teacher Training Program, Fiona is a master.

ERYT-500/YACEP

I have been immersed in the world of yoga since I was eight years old. My very first yoga teacher was my mother & the year was 1977. Fast forward 20 years… me boarding a plane, taking my first of many sojourns to the Himalayas in India, to study at the yoga ashram where she had been living since then… & the rest is history.

I am so proud to have been such an integral part of the Yogaspace community since 2005. For the last 20 years I have been teaching traditional Hatha as well as Restorative Yoga and Meditation. I am director of Philosophical studies in the 200 hour teacher training program & a faculty member on the 300 hr/continuing education program where I offer Restorative Yoga, Prānāyām & Meditation & Traditional Hatha Kriyā Yoga.

After a life in yoga, I realize that it is not only what I do, it’s who I am from the inside out. I love meeting people & seeing how yoga brings out the best in them... helping them navigate their lives with greater courage and grace. Yoga is a magnificent practice and so much more… I believe it is who we are at our deepest and most fundamental level.

Hello Mondays at noon

Hi there! My name is YuMee Chung (she/her) E-RYT-500 YACEP, and I’m a former lawyer who discovered her inner yogi and never looked back. I bring plenty of nerdy precision to my classes but I’m happiest when creating embodied experiences that are filled with spirit, sweat, and sweetness. I teach privately, offer workshops and trainings, and host impeccably curated international yoga retreats. I look forward to meeting you on the mat.

is no stranger to to the greater Toronto yoga community.
This girl gets around. She taught folks yoga from outside their windows in the freezing cold during the pandemic & her winters have been highlighted by luxury retreats ever since. She’s a guest faculty member on our 200 hour YTT & rumour has it she’s got a 300 hour course in the works.

She holds the house Monday evenings & Wednesday middays at & we adore her as much as the students who fill her classes every week do.

If you practice yoga in downtown Toronto, you probably know If not, please meet her…

E-RYT~500 YACEP (She/Her)

I was born in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and now live in Toronto with my two sons and my husband.

My embodied movement practice flows through the veins of the Prana Flow lineage created by Shiva Rea whom I have studied with since 2006. For well over two decades I have dedicated my life to my yoga practice and sharing what I continue to learn in modalities ranging from Ashtanga Vinyasa to Pre Natal Yoga to Reformer Pilates. I am a student of Kalarippayat – a martial art of Kerala, India with yearly trips back to study at the feet of my teachers. My breadth of knowledge stretches into the dance world too, and I work collaboratively with several dance organisations in Toronto to train dancers and artists.

To better understand ‘modern yoga’, my focus has shifted over the years towards the emerging academic field of yogic studies – specifically studying the ta***ic and medieval roots of yoga and the evolution of yoga in the 20th century. In 2019 I completed the Yoga Studies Program at the University of London, and went on to graduate in 2022 with a Post Graduate Degree from the Department of Art History and Architecture. My research focused on the earliest illustrated manuscripts from the Hatha Yoga tradition, Ta***ic Yogini Temples in Eastern India and the Buddhist-Hindu temples of the Cham Dynasty in Vietnam.

I have worn many hats over the past twenty years: as a studio owner in both Vietnam and Canada and teacher trainer for hundreds of students in teacher training programs. I offer trainings in the Art of Teaching, History of Yoga, Pre-Natal Yoga, Pilates for Yoga Teachers, to name just a few. I also co-created (with Yumee Chung) an expansive digital platform of classes called Leelapod to support my students during the pandemic.

Yogaspace is a very special studio where I have happily taught for many years and I am deeply grateful to have such a special space to call my yoga home in Toronto.
